If it can live on its own, by design of its maturity, it's a tree.

So past 20 weeks, a fetus is a child?

I would almost agree with that. Not all fetuses develop exactly the same, but roughly 20 weeks? I can do that. If that fetus can be yanked out today, and it would be able to live and develop on its own, I'd say it's a child.

Despite what I may sound like on here, I'm not a supporter of late term abortions. Not only because it's nearly an independent, developed life form. But because the mother has had MONTHS to decide what to do about it.

Is it murder of someone decides to have a late term? Well, if that were the case, it would turn a woman's body into a crime scene investigation and I'm not sure I'm cool with that. Imagine how violated a woman would feel who just happened to have a miscarriage, yet she still had to be "investigated" for infanticide.

I still think this approach is all wrong, trying to draw a timeline when a fetus becomes a child.

I mean, why should we care about anyone else unless they mean something to us, including fetuses?

I don't see the connection between outlawing abortion and policing a woman's body. Its a cut at the supply of the procedure, not the demand. I think your worries are way overblown.

No, not really. Making a law saying that providing abortions is illegal doesn't police a woman's body at all.

I've heard a rumor that babies that are the target of abortions happen to be inside women's bodies. It's not a for sure thing. I mean, it's not science. But I just hear things.

Maybe it should be based on the parents ability to financially take care of the child. What you think?

Adoption lines are extremely long in this country.

No thanks. I don't feel like carrying my trash all the way to the dump.
