listen to this guy... yea power can be made till a certain extent but at what cost.. its better to start off with a bigger platform..if you want a better bang for your buck then consider any other DOHC motor over a D series..

I understand what yall r sayin but what im gettin at and i think jdm is on the same page is we just want to pep up our dd a little so we arent just gettin smashed out but still keep the gas milage a reliability. If i wanted to street/strip my eg i totally agree with yall a lsv or turbo b series would be more worth it in the long run or at least be a better platform to build on

budget turbo d series probly net around 14 sec to high 13 depending on your setup, boost, slicks, car weight etc. built turbo single cams with rods, vavletrain, cams, decent turbo, slicks, good tune, lsd can get u into 12s but again at what cost? nearly the same as a b series with no torque and a limited platform.

a budget built d16z6 with a cheap vitara set up, a skunk cam w/cam gear, and a t3/t4 has no problem making over 300 whp on low boost (10 psi) properly tuned. pretty much if you're staying under 500 whp, d series is still cheaper in the long run. things level out after that, and then its preference. there are many built d series around that put down some serious power. I'm speaking from experience, but if you dont believe me, head over to d-series.org and do some research... ask questions, etc... |

when i say budget build i mean "stock" single cam, with dsm injectors, peiced together turbo kit. you are limited to many factors to make more "reliable" power. im not saying that you cant make power on a single cam but why spend the money on a single cam when you can make more power on a better platform as a b series for nearly the same cost in parts. the performance parts for b and d are not that much diff in the end. hell if you blow a ls motor on turbo you can get them for a couple hundred dollars more as opposed to a single cam. |
