Finalize thread button - Houston-Imports.com

I'm a member of civic-eg forum and in the classified section when you list something and it sells there is a finalize button that locks your thread. I thought it was pretty cool. just a thought .

yeah i think that would be a pretty good idea, saves time for mods and admins and stops people from posting in sold threads

Forums that have it, people rarely use it.

Forums that don't have it, get requests for it all the time.

Plus, you'll get the guys who get butt hurt about not getting the offers they hoped for and close the thread only to open another thread for the same exact thing for the same exact price

Here is a example of where the finalize thread option would be nice, the guy has sold everything and people keep asking about parts

What's the difference between the OP saying in a reply "All items sold" or hitting a finalize button?

If the person doesn't ever come back to the thread a finalize button will do no good.

Seems like a cool idea, but the truth is only nerds like me would utilize it.

The whole "Sold, Mods /thread plz" has worked just fine for me all this time though.

Also leaving it open for a couple days allows the buyer(s) to come in and post something if there is a issue with the product purchased. Yeah there's itrader, but that's another avenue to post possible shady sellers.

Most people tend to just look at post #1 and not read through the thread before responding. OP says "items 1/2/all are sold" on various posts and people ignore / don't take the time to read them.

this.

there are other, shadier, reasons that a seller could close a thread and then open a new one with the same stuff, too - if this option were given to them.
