i think you'll be happy with a 6.5" component set...installed in properly deadened doors. the midbass response will be pretty dang good...almost to the extent of running subless if you don't need all that bass.

Any recommendations on sound deadening material? I know dynomat is well known, but I find it kinda pricey and I'm sure there's something else out there that works just as well and cheaper.

As for the 6.5" components, any decent sounding ones on the cheap? I don't mean dirt cheap, but midrange price wise. I definitely don't want to spend a fortune on this like I've mentioned before. I rather have the money spent better elsewhere. I am in no hurry to get this done. I usually do lots of research before I follow through.

give the hertz hi-energy a try. it won't break your bank, and given a decent amount of power...will sound pretty damn good. the midbass response is very impressive.

as for sound deadening material, i recommend hushmat. i have 2-3 layers of that stuff on my front doors.

Thanks for the suggestion carguy. Know who carries these in the SW to audition these? And will 1 layer of the hushmat stuff do?

Now who wants to make me adapters for a 6-pack?

Normally a 6-pack is referring to six 6x9 speakers in the rear deck of a car. Is that what you are wanting?

The first layer of sound deadening will give you the most immediate impact. Look at using anywhere between 6 - 9 sqft per door. Additional layers will help because you are adding more mass, but it could be added on later if your budget is a problem. Also auditioning a set of speakers off of a sound board is almost futile because your ear will hear it differently in the car.

A33GT- take ur time. when u pay up and pay attention to detail. the rewards are endless. chaotic_mindz(my cousin) had been working on his for a very long long time. he can tell you 1st hand when u dont rush things and do ur home work, it pays off in the end. 6.5's will suffice in your requirements. trust us.
