help with sohc
I have a 00 civic ex with a blown motor, I was going to put in a d16z6 motor with the y8 intake manifold. I noticed the y8 head and manifold have a little vacume pocket above the intake ports, what are they for? What do I need to do to put that intake on the z6 head? Is it worth it?

Not really sure what you're trying to explain. Maybe a picture will help. I don't think it'll make that much of a difference, unless the z6 manifold has the throttle body mounted on top, but the last time I checked, that was only the y7/aX motors. I would pick up a Blox intake manifold if you want some improvement.

You have to plug those because you will be using a z6 intake gasket.Use quick steel at the auto parts, sand it smooth and your good to go.If you don't plug them you will have a vacuum leak.Or don't hook up the hose that points straight up on the intake manifold.I just did both. You must have a auto? The z6 has good top end, the y8 has quick take off and mid run.
