Lincoln Surprises Everyone With New Navigator Concept

Last night Lincoln revealed a new concept that essentially previews the new generation of their full-size SUV.

Nothing wows more than a pair of huge gullwing doors, like the ones on the Navigator concept but it doesn't seem very likely that the actual production model will get them.

Under the fancy doors and the whole yacht-inspired bling though, Lincolnís new concept hides a new chassis, a 3.5-litre V6 EcoBoost engine with more than 400hp and an array of Fordís shiny new technologies to make the new Navigator a true Range Rover rival.

"The all-new Navigator Concept reinforces our commitment to give every Lincoln client what we call quiet luxury Ė vehicles and experiences that are elegant, effortlessly powerful and serene," said company president Kumar Galhotra. "This kind of quiet luxury sets Lincoln apart. Now, we're showing fans of large SUVs how we can exceed their expectations, without being the loudest statement on the road."

The concept itself features a six-seat configuration in the cabin which is dressed in light-blue leather. All seats are adjustable in 30 ways in order to offer the best possible support to different body types, including independent deployable thigh support for the driverís seat.

Lincoln has even installed a custom wardrobe management system which can hold all the gear you could want for ďa day on the waterĒ according to the company.

As for the safety tech, this includes the latest Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, a 360-degree camera combined with an enhanced parking assist system, lane-keeping and a cabin equipped with WiFi connectivity and a full set of restraint monitors and a large panel display in front of the driver.

Gullwing doors or not, if you liked the new Continental, you will love this one when it hits production.

I think the front would look better with a different grill. Interior is boss mode.

If they were detachable and could be used as tablets, that would be nice.

Interior is pretty cool. 1950/60's inspired but done in a modern way. Reminds me of an Amtrak railcar interior from that era

2018 Lincoln Navigator Adds Refinement And Luxury To Full-Size SUV

SUVs are all the rage nowadays and to cash in, Lincoln has just unveiled its all-new full-size SUV, the 2018 Navigator. Set to debut at the New York Auto Show, the new model has been dramatically overhauled and promises to be more luxurious than ever before.

For starters, the body of the 2018 Navigator is made from lightweight aluminium, a change which saves almost 200 pounds on its own. Grunt is then provided by a twin-turbocharged V6 which Lincoln says will produce around 450 hp and be mated to Fordís new 10-speed automatic transmission.

The cabin of the Navigator has been completely re-thought and pushes the vehicle to the upper-echelons of the luxury SUV market. As standard, it comes with three rows of seats and incorporates a unique cargo management system that includes an adjustable shelf behind the rear seats to allow storage to be customized.

Elsewhere, the 2018 Navigator has front seats with heating and cooling features that can be adjusted up to 30 different ways. Thereís also Fordís SYNC 3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and an available rear-seat entertainment system that includes two 10-inch adjustable screens. The Navigator also has a WiFi hotstop that can support 10 mobile devices at a time and if customers want a superb audio experience, a 20-speaker Revel Ultima system can be ordered.

Among some of the other key features are Trailer Backup Assist, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, an optional heads-up display, six USB ports, four 12-volt power outlets and a 110-volt plug. A wireless phone charger is also available.
