VW Arteon Coming Stateside Next Year To Replace The CC

Teased a few times ahead of its public reveal in Geneva this March, the new Volkswagen Arteon will also hit the US market, in 2018.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, Volkswagen brand chief, Herbert Diess, revealed plans of bringing the sleek-looking four-door coupe to North America, where it will finally replace the aging CC, VWVortex writes.

Details on the US-spec Arteon have yet to be released, but it will slot in the company's lineup right above the Passat, sharing most of its nuts and bolts with the European model, and be priced accordingly. If the CC replacement is successful enough, then Volkswagen may consider adding a Shooting Brake version as well.

Joining its likes on the North American market in 2018 will also be the facelifted Golf, which was already shown Europe, while in 2019, Herbert Diess revealed plans for the introduction of two more SUVs, coming to complete the brand's family, alongside the Atlas and Tiguan LWB. Not much is known about these two vehicles, but apparently one of them is believed to be the new Touareg.

New 2018 VW Arteon Four-Door Coupe Is The CC's More Upscale Replacement

    http://www.carscoops.com/2017/03/new...-coupe-is.html

This is the all-new VW Arteon, the replacement for the CC which is going to be positioned above the Passat in the brand’s range as a premium offering.

Based on VW’s modular MQB platform, the new Arteon sits on a long 2,841mm (111.8 in) wheelbase, measuring 4,862mm (191.4 in) long, 1,871mm (73.6 in) wide and 1,427mm (56.1 in) tall.

The company is calling the Arteon a premium Gran Turismo, giving it a distinctive front end, a set of powerful shoulder lines and a low roofline among other design features.

“The athletic lines of the Arteon embody a highly functional overall concept. Form and function find common ground here in a progressive way”, said Tobias Sühlmann, responsible for the Arteon's exterior design. “In contrast to classic saloons, the gran turismo offers more space and flexibility thanks to its long wheelbase, coupé-like fastback design and large rear hatch.”

The new VW Arteon will be available initially with six petrol and diesel engines, starting from 148hp (150PS) in the case of the new 1.5-litre TSI petrol, followed by the 2.0-litre TSI which is offered in 187hp (190PS) and 276hp (280PS) versions.

If you prefer a diesel engine, then you have to choose the 2.0-litre TDI engine, offered in the 148hp (150PS), 187hp (190PS) or the range-topping 236hp (240PS) version. The base petrol engine, as well as the 148hp and the 187hp diesel models are coming with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. The rest of the range gets a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic from the get-go while the more powerful petrol and diesel models will be all-wheel drive only.

The interior follows the familiar lines of the Passat, only in this case VW has thrown all their latest tech features, including the Active Info Display, as seen in the Golf and of course a range of their latest infotainment systems with a screen size from 6.5 and 9.2 inches in diameter.

And because this is a premium model, the Arteon also gets ambient lighting, with a strip running right under the air vent and continuing into the door panels. VW also claims that the interior legroom for the rear passengers is the best in class, thanks to the long wheelbase. The rear bench also offers seating for three, with the two outer seat positions to feature the ergonomic character of individual seats.

As expected, the Arteon will offer a wide range of driver assistance systems, including the latest generation of the company’s adaptive cruise control, Emergency Assist, Lane Assist, Proactive occupant protection and more.

VW’s move to push upmarket the new Arteon shows the company’s intentions to rival cars like the BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe and the Audi A5 Sportback and also means that prices will be set at a higher level than the equivalent Passat.

2018 VW Arteon Celebrates Launch With Detailed New Gallery [94 Pics]

    http://www.carscoops.com/2017/05/201...unch-with.html

With the launch of the new Arteon already behind us, VW saw fit to release a new mega-gallery of their stylish 4-door offering.

The new VW fastback is launching with a range of six turbocharged TSI petrol and TDI diesel units, with the most powerful of them featuring the company’s 4Motion all-wheel drive as standard.

The range is divided into three trim levels: Arteon, Arteon R-Line and Arteon Elegance. The R-Line focuses on sportiness while the Elegance is leaning towards on the premium side of things.

Every single version of the Arteon will come with standard features such as LED headlights and taillights, LED daytime running lights, Keyless Go, stainless steel door tread plates, VW’s Composition audio with eight speakers and auxiliary-USB ports, an electronically controlled climate system, semi-electric front seats, Driver Alert system and Progressive Steering among others.

The R-Line version features high-gloss black front air intakes, a sports steering wheel dressed in leather, Alcantara/leather heated seats, 18-inch Sebring alloy wheels, unique R-Line bumpers, chrome-plated tailpipes and more.

The Elegance version on the other hand comes with chrome wing mirror caps, LED taillights with dynamic indicator light function, contrast stitching on the Alcantara/leather heated seats and floor mats and 18-inch Muscat alloys among others.

The new VW Arteon is also the company’s first model to feature so many driver assistance systems, with highlights including the Emergency Assist 2.0, which can bring the car safely to a halt if necessary, and the Pre-Crash occupant protection system which monitors vehicles behind and besides you, closing the windows and sunroof and preloading the belt tensioners if an imminent crash is detected.

VW claims that interior space is above-average, thanks to the Arteon’s 2,841mm-long wheelbase, while other high-tech features include things like the Active Info Display in the driver’s instrument cluster and an optional 9.2-inch infotainment system with gesture control.

The range of available engines will kick off with the 148hp (150PS) 1.5-litre TSI, followed by the 2.0-litre TSI which is offered in 187hp (190PS) and 276hp (280PS) versions. The diesel range includes the 2.0-litre TDI with 148hp (150PS), 187hp (190PS) or a range-topping 236hp (240PS) version.

The base petrol engine, as well as the 148hp and the 187hp diesel models are coming with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, with the rest of the range offered only with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
