basically bringing back the e38 740i sport is what they are doing. Same size and all.

Confusing...all 6 Series should be 2 Door Coupes. Why not go ahead and totally mess me up and make the 7 Series a 2 door Coupe?

You guys don't remember?! - BMW changed the numbering up, all the way around.
Even Numbers are Sedans now, Odd Numbers are Coupes.
1 = Old 1 Coupe
2 = Old 1 Sedan
3 = Old 3 Coupe
4 = Old 3 Sedan
5 = Old 6 Coupe
6 = Old 5 Sedan
7 = Old 6 Coupe
8 = Old 7 Sedan
9 = Upcoming Supercar

BMW launched the 6 Series Gran Coupe at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show to directly compete with the Audi A7 and Mercedes-Benz CLS in the four-door executive coupé market.
The Gran Coupe shares the front and rear fascias with the other 6 Series body styles. Compared to the two door 6 Series coupé, the Gran Coupe's wheelbase is longer by stretched 4.5 inches while the body is 4.4 inches longer. This makes the Gran Coupe longer (by 4.0 inches) and wider (by 1.3 inches) than the BMW 5 Series sedan (F10). The extra length, compared to the two-door 6 Series, gives the Gran Coupe a 4+1 seating arrangement, as the rear has two fullsize outboard seats and a middle seat for occasional passengers.
The Gran Coupe is the fruition of the BMW CS Concept, a vehicle that was intended to slot at the top of BMW's lineup alongside the 7-Series. The CS Concept never made it to production due to the worsening economy in 2008, which also saw the retirement of BMW M development executive Gerhard Richter. Pricing for the BMW 640i Gran Coupe is slightly more than the BMW 740i.
Scheduled to be released for the 2013 model year, there will be the 640i, 640d, 650i and 650i xDrive, featuring the same powertrain configurations as the two-door 6 Series Coupe. The 650i will be powered by an updated variant of the N63 twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 that adds Valvetronic, giving it an output of 445 hp and 480 lb-ft, gains of 45 hp and 30 lb-ft over the same engine in other 6 Series.

Lumma Design Previews New Styling Package for BMW M6 Coupe
Click here for more photos
Leave it to Lumma Design to take a rather understated sports coupe like the BMW M6 F12 and transform it into something that looks like it would feel right at home racing at the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters or German Touring Car Masters in English).
Then again, looks can be deceiving as Lumma Design's tuning program for the M6 Coupe is strictly cosmetic, at least for the time being.
Available from the end of the year, the CLR styling package encompasses a full aero body kit with a protruding front spoiler and large air inlets, carbon fiber engine housing, wheel arch extensions on all four corners, a rear diffuser with a central double-pipe exhaust and a large rear wing affixed to the boot.
There's also a new set of 21-inch alloy wheels shod in low profile performance tires.
Those that don't mind some color inside can opt for Lumma Design's interior package that dresses the M6's cabin in leather, Alcantara and carbon fiber with the buyer having an almost unlimited choice of shades.
The German tuning brand said that customized vehicles will be shipped from early 2013.

Hamann Motorsport Teases BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe Tuning Package
The tuning minds over at Hamann Motorsport are preparing a raft of aftermarket cosmetic and performance enhancements for the new BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe.
For the time being, all we get from the German brand is a single rendering and the promise that more will be revealed in the very near future.
The image shows BMW's sports sedan finished in a matte blue hue (or wrap, we're not sure) and fitted with an assortment of aero parts.
These include side skirts, a new front bumper with enlarged air vents, possibly a matching rear bumper, a boot lid spoiler and a new sculpted hood with air scoops either painted in back or made from carbon fiber.
The 6-Series Gran Coupe also features a new set of alloy wheels and appears to ride on a lowered sports suspension.
Hamann will likely offer engine upgrades for the entire range.
