    Tinted Headlight Cover Legality

I was wondering the Legality of lightly tinted headlight covers after some research.

Heres what I have figured out.
    - No laws directly regarding tinted head lights
    - Must have sufficient lights at Night time / when visibility is not clear (Tunnels, fog, etc)

    So my thought was,
    1. Remove cover at night/dawn/morning/rain
    2. Install fog/Aux lamps (so even if something like sudden heavy rain, fog, tunnels, etc I would technically have sufficient visibility)

^ Now the law I based it off of is 1995 one and I'm pretty sure its outdated...
What are your Opinion / Solution to tinted headlight covers? Have you ever gotten pulled over for having them even in daylight?

    thanks.

Lights must be visible from 500ft away. Nothing shall be obstructing the function of the headlight

It comes down to how much of a nazi the cop is. Usually hpd and surrounding area cops dont care but state troopers will shaft you since complete vehicle saftey is in their alley

IMO focus more on a custom headlight retrofit or something..lens tints are gay as fuck

It wont pass state inspection therefore if a trooper sees it on your vehicle then it is illegal.

1: I never said replace. Its to accomodate the amount of light the car gives off so the light cover won't affect visibility as much in situations where you can't take it off (like rain)

2: I'm really not talking about like VIP, Dub/donk tinted... its only this much

    3. and I mean think about it... Retractable headlights doesn't even come out until its needed.... so why not put cover on the head light before its dark outside and siply take it off at night?

ahh i see your logic now. i thought your choices were either 1 or 2 not both 1&2. usually though the logic in inspections and also how troopers think is the original equipped items on a car shall not be modified in a way that it impairs use. in any case that you drive into random heavy rainfall there is not way you will be able to stop the car take off the lenses without putting yourself or others in harm in the process 100% of the time. meaning if you were driving on a highway and you get a sudden 3" of rain, which does happen in texas, you will not be always have a gas station, cover, or safe area to take off your lenses. when you pull over on the highway in situations of low visibility you create a dangerous scenario not only for yourself but other drivers on the road.

it all comes down to "its your car you do what you want" but ive seen these tickets all day long for tinted tails and headlights. just avoid it if possible
