Lots of people selling Texans tickets locally, don't blame them.

The fuck are you on about? The Aeros were consistently near the top of the league in attendance and won championships in 99 and 03 (in addition to the 2 won by the WHA Aeros in the 70s when Gordie Howe played here).

The only thing that wasn't a success was our local gov't handing over control of the toyota center (a taxpayer funded resource) to Les Alexander (a private business owner) who then forced hockey out of the building by raising the lease to an unreasonable level so he could "host more concerts" instead. I'm glad that fuckhead is out of the picture now.

Aeros games were like 10-15 bucks for really good seats, nobody was paying major league prices for minor league hockey.

And if you don't know fuck-all about hockey, you probably don't know what separates NHL talent from AHL, and would have just as good a time at an AHL game as you would at an NHL game. AHL is still really good hockey, and is the primary developmental league for the NHL. Tons of players I saw with the Aeros made it to the NHL and are still in the league.

NHL will bring corporate sponsorship and greatly grow the footprint of the sport in Houston, so I am for it, even though the tickets will be much more expensive than AHL was, meaning I would not be able to attend as many games. You can turn your head slightly to the north and look at what the presence of the Stars has done for hockey in Dallas

If they can support a hockey team we damn well can too - because fuck Dallas! I hope yon Tillman can pull it off.

Did anyone ever go to Aero's games? There was a ton of attendance at the local games even for being an AHL team.

An hour before the game isn't really a fair representation of attendance.
Neither is a X-mas day game.

I will say I didn't watch the last 6 or so games of the season.
The fact that the Colts blew us out says a lot.
