We will have the entire parking lot available for the meet with 70+ spaces as the other businesses in the shopping center will be closed by the time parking begins. We have full permission from the management of the center to have the meet as late as we want (12-1 am). Still have some reserved spaces left, PM if interested!

DJ for the evening will be Adam Hi-Tone of Audio Space Monkeys.

Same rules as any other meet:

Givral's Sandwich cafe. We'll be having some specials on food and tapioca, would like everyone just to come out and have a good time and enjoy some good food! Just testing waters on this before i set up an event. Ill have some photographers out here to take some pics, Dj, and what not. before I set everything up I just want to see who all would come out! also will be doing free give aways and raffles! I know bellaire area isn't the best area for a meet but we are close to beltway 8 so you won't hit all the potholes and the event in later on in the day so we wont have to deal with horrible asian drivers.

Welcome to the Houston Region Solo (Autocross) Program

Solo is the SCCA brand name for autocross competition. Solo events are driving skill contests that emphasize the driver's ability and the car's handling characteristics. This is accomplished by driving a course that is designated by traffic cones on a low hazard location, such as a parking lot or inactive airstrip. While speeds are no greater than those normally encountered in legal highway driving,the combination of concentration and car feedback creates an adrenaline pumping experience. It is like being in a movie chase scene, only you are holding onto the steering wheel instead of a box of popcorn!

NEW to the sport?
Be there by 7:30 a.m. or earlier (This will be my first time so I plan to be there at 7 am)

Event fees are as follows:
SCCA Members on Site $35.00
Non-SCCA Members on Site $50.00

Non-SCCA Members will be getting a temporary Weekend SCCA Member number as part of registering at the event. So, if you aren't a SCCA Member, you fall under this rule and the $50 for the day price tag.

To answer some additional questions I have gotten from others thinking of attending:

Q: What if it rains? Do we wait? Do we get a refund?

A: The event runs rain or shine. The only time driving is stopped is if there is lightning as people on the course and flaggers will be in harms way. Once it is deemed safe by course personnel, driving will resume.

Q: The rules say I need a helmet, but I don't have one...

A: Not a problem, the Houston SCCA has spare one's that those without may temporarily borrow while on the course driving.

Q: I've never driven on a track before. What should I expect?

A: Since you are new, you will be placed in a Rookie class where you will only drive along side other Rookies albeit in various car classes. You will be involved with a mandatory track walk with instructors to get a fell for and understand the track, a drivers meeting, a tech inspection to clear your car, and your first lap will be with an instructor (and more pending how comfortable you are and or how your instructor feels you are doing after the first time round). There are typically 3 heats through out the day. All participants will drive in 1 heat, help with course needs for 1 heat, and have a break for 1 heat. It is highly suggested that you clean out your car of anything loose in the trunk or passenger compartment prior to coming to the event as these will have to be removed prior to driving on the course. Finally, it is also highly suggested to bring water and food with you to keep yourself or your friends (if they come to watch) nourished while at the track.

Q: Is this like racing where I will or others will be passing each other?

A: No, the cars are run one at a time for a timed lap. The competition part falls in who can achieve the best time in each class. That being said, rookie drivers are not part of the regular competition and are encouraged to do their best while having fun!
