I'd say it would depend on what amp you plan on running. Then your budget.

if you got 300 to work w/

Kicker Comp VR
JL Audio 15w3
Adire Audio Tempest
Image Dynamics IDSPL

You can find those under that price and still get a box..port the sucker and you'd get plenty of output..

You can also buy a Pyramid 15 subwoofer for $60 new, and save the rest for your front speakers and amps :thumb:

where is a cheap shop to buy them at?

Get the tempest then.. it'll cost ya bout 150 and you get a 3 year warranty on em.. I would take these over the pyramid easy.. you can make a box for round 30 -40 bux.. and still have bout 100 for a set of components or speakers up front.. the tempest dont require huge amount of power either..

or you can go with a kicker for around 135 or even a RF HE 15"

I would stay away from pyramid.. they always overrate their gear..

yall forgot to tell him about the kicker solobaric L7
come on guys haha

i can prolly get you sub and box for the square L7 for around 300

hey bubbles what is a good amp to push the solobarics?

FOBGoober
03-25-2003, 03:58 PM
his budget is 300 bux w/ a box.. so 300 aint gonna work.. for 300 he can get plenty of other subs. the ones listed for him are all under 175 which gives him money for a box and maybe some front speakers..

03-25-2003, 07:10 PM
i said i can get him both the sub and the box for 300 and prolly a 4 guage wiring kit and some other goodies to run his shit too

um to push that solo you'd prolly wanna use something with a high RMS at 1 ohm mono stable or 2 ohm mono stable bc it comes dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm

i'd go with a good ppi monoblock or memphis :) im using my memphis pr1kd to push 2 solo 12's soon thay should sound pretty good

FOBGoober
03-26-2003, 12:06 AM
oh.. my mistake.. but if hes on a budget... the solo may not be his best bet.. even if its a real good sub.. if he is on a budget he may not be able to get an amp that puts out the required power that the L7 needs.. Either way.. the L7 is a good loud sub.. can be made to sound good as well in the rite setup.. i prefer the old round solos over the newer ones..

fobgoober i didn't see them sell the tempest subs on the web sites?

You can call em up.. or you can get it here for 150 shipped..

http://www.acoustic-visions.com/Tempest.htm

they are authorized dealers..

FOBGoober

You can get a 4g amp kit at walmart for 24 bux.. not that expensive.. and its made by scosche.. so its not a cheesy amp kit either.. and it has all you need for a whole setup..

so..

components = crystal cpe = 109.00 online from authorized dealer.
http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/CRYCPE60

Sub = Tempest = 150.00 shipped w/ 3 yr warranty

box = home made = 40 bux or prefab = 50.00

Wiring kit = 25 bux

shoot... so for a little over 325.00 you can get almost a complete system.. that will get loud and sound clean and accurate..

for about $150 u can get a 'AUDIOBAHN' 15" INCH CHROME FLAMED CASKET (1,000 WATT PEAK 500 WATT RMS) WOOFER WITH A SEALED BOX WITH IT HERE IN HOUSTON!ACTUALLY,,THAT SPEAKER COSTS LIKE $100 MAYBE A LITTLE LESS AN A SINGLE 15"INCH SEALED BOX WILL RUN U BOUT 30-40 DOLLERS SO ACTUALLY LESS THEN $150 U CAN BUY A 15"INCH WOOFER WITH A BOX!! ALSO NO SPEAKER WILL EVER BLOW IF U POWER THEM RIGHT! SPEAKERS ONLY BLOW IF U OVER POWER THEM!! OR IN KICKER'S CASE TEHY WILL BURN OUT IF U DONT BREAK THEM IN FIRST BEFORE PUTTIN MEAAAAN POWER TO THEM!!

I garauntee that that audiobahn wont sound as good as the tempest.. and also the tempest wont require as much power as the audiobahn.. also.. you wont get a 3 year warranty from audiobahn on their subs..

If you really wanted... you can get plenty of gear in houston cheap.. you just have to shop around..

You can overpower a sub by a pretty good amount, and run it LOUD a lot of time, and not blow it, setting the amp is more important than not overpowering it!!

And Goobs, the cpe's aren't on that crazy ass sale at sounddomain anymore, they're back up to their regular price of like 185 or whatever they were originally.

FOBGoober
03-26-2003, 02:10 PM
Nono.. they ARE still on sale.. they just hiding it.. like.. the price on the 7" comps are like 199.. but if you check the page.. they have a 90 dollar discount.. that drops it to 109.. the domain dollars thing.. sweet rite?? these are some awesome components for the price.... Im not saying that its bad to over power the stuff.. i was just saying.. he may not have much room for a highpower amp if hes on a budget.. yes.. having more power gives you head room..but its not always needed.. shoot.. im gonna be giving my components close to 200W a side and i know thats overkill..

AUDIOBAHN'S MAY OR MAYNOT SOUND BETTER THAN ADIRE'S TEMPEST,,THATS ALL A MATTER OF OPIONION REALLY!! I MEAN WAT I'M SAYING IS HE IS ON A BUDGET WHY SPEND MORE THEN U HAVE TO!! PLUS A 3 YEAR WARRANTY DONT REALLY MATTER UNLESS U MISUSE YOUR SPEAKERS ALOT,,IF U TAKE CARE OF YOUR SHIZNIT IT CAN LAST MORE THAN 5 YEARS!! BUT THE MAIN THING I'M STATING IS WHY WASTE MORE THAN HE HAS TOO??! I MEAN FOR THE SAME PRICE HE CAN GETA ADIRE'S TEMPEST HE CAN GET A SIMILAR IF NOT LOUDER SOUNDING SUB THATS EVEN "CRHOMED AN FLAMED" OUT ON TEH BACK(LIL EXTRA FOR HIS MONEY) AND EVEN GET A BOX AND WIRING KIT!!!!THAT ALL!! SYSTEMS ARE REALLY A MATTER OF OPIONIONS!!! WHEN BROKEN DOWN SYSTEMS ARE ALL BASED UPON THE BOX MADE FOR TEH SUBWOOFERS!! LIEK I SAY "SOUND SYSTEMS ARE 90% CONSTRUCTION(MAKING THE BOX) AN 10% EQUIPMENT"""!! I MEAN U CAN GET SOME Q POWER'S AN MAKE EM HIT LOUDER THEN THE PUNCHE HE2'S IF U MAKE A BOX RIGHT!! BUT I'M JUS GIVING ADVICE!!

say man.. i think ya need to check your cap locks.. anyways.. i understand that install is very important to making a system sound good.. But even if gear is installed correctly it can still get jacked.. Adires warranty has been very good and they are a good company.. you can call up adire and talk to Dan himself.. he will give you a comparison b/n the Audiobahn and the tempest... if you are more concerned bout bling than actual sound then yea.. you can go w/ audiobahn.. ive heard their gear, it sounds ok to me.. even in a good install..

you have to ask yourself.. do you really think audiobahn had SQ in mind when they developed their gear? or was it all about the bling?

Look at the tempest.. it looks plain jane.. no frills at all.. no flames no chrome.. no oversized surround... even the packaging it comes is a plain white box.. with a stamp that says tempest on it.. these drivers were made for the value customers in mind who wanted good SQ and decent output..

Ive owned the shiva and it sounded as good if not better than my W6s... and costs a fraction of the price..

and your assumption of 90% install and 10% gear is a little skewwed.. i would say its more like 70% install 30% gear...

I guess you need to sit in a truck with some w7's in it and tell me that is the same as a Audiobahn with a properly constructed box. Oh yeah, I'd also inquire about the return rate of Audiobahn subs also. The mesh around the magnet obviously doesnt help when it comes to dissipating heat.

AZNMONK!! for one thing were talking about 1-15"inch woofer,,,how u gunna say sit in a truck with a "some" w7's!!??? of coures "some" will hit louder than jus "one"!!! and of course just one w7 will hit harder than the 15"inch qudiobahn i'm talking about kuz it only handles 500 watts rms 1,000 watts peak!!! and w7's are beyond that!! but for the same amount u buy 1-w7 u can buy about 6-15's of audioahn!!i aint saying audiobahn is the shiznit either!! the man is asking for advise on a reasonably priced 15!! so i put my 10 cents in advice!! for one thing i like the brahma better kuz up to date its the only woofer with the longest one way linear excursion an longest peak-to-peak excursion!! jus gotta remember he;s on a budget!!now if he was looking to spend up to a grand on just one woofer i would be recomending the same equipment alll of you are!!

and for another thing he didn't say anything about blowing people away so u have to inquire he just wants some bang in his vehicle he may not be looking for a system u can hear from 3-4 blocks away!! he's looking to spend round 300 for a 15 with a box!!

Also curious...why do you prefer a 15? There are plenty of 12 and even 10's that would do the trick.

a 15 would probably be more of a boomy type bass. Sure you would hear it further down the block, but who cares? I'd say go with a 12. It can get just as loud if tuned properly, and you'll be able to feel it more too :thumb:

90% install..10% equipment. :) (at least the way perceive it)

don't go with 12's, 10's or anything smaller unless you're in need for space. :)
