ok my radiator hose had a huge gash in it...i was driving my car pretty hard...would this cause my top radiator hose to explode? not a costly repair-17.86$ at carquest but im just wondering if anyone would know why this happened...

new radiator, rebuilt tranny, rebuilt motor, new pcv valve

repairs in sequential order...

any info or ideas as to why this happened would be appreciated...
also...what other problems would come next with this damn car...

Hoses dry up and crack over time. Its common maintenance to change them out as well as the waterpump around the 100k mile mark. Driving it hard wouldnt have anything to do with it. Although your waterpump is belt driven(or in rare cases electric or timing chain driven like my car) and the flow increases with the rpms, the pressure is pretty much constant.
