Here's a 3.0" dump tube with electronic cutout. When closed, it routes all the exhaust through the stock muffler.

depends on your setup.. turbo cars arent that loud.. so you can get away with a dump like that.. I see all motor cars running open header all the time. It loud but it doesnt kill anything.
I wouldnt waste the time with the ol plain cutout.. its not that expensive to get the ECutout.. you never have to crawl under your car or get your hands dirty.

how much is the ecutout, and where do you get it from?

unless you make a complete custom setup, u need the regular cutout to put the ecutout on

Does that hurt anything on the car? I mean does that basically make the exhaust totally miss the catalytic converter and everything else? And the noise, wouldnt that attract cops?

don't get any of the cheap regular cutouts you find on ebay. they are cast iron. muffler shops can't weld that. if they can, they dont want to, cause its harder to weld.

so how does this work? Is it located near the back of the exhaust or the header? and im assuming that you have to unscrew it to open it up. any hp or tq gains?

you can either have it before or after the cat.
before the cat, would allow more open exhaust flow, like open header. after the cat, would be restictive but would bypass your muffler and the rest of the exhaust.
the cutout, with the metal plate, you have to go under and unbolt it. the cutouts with the electronic valve allows you to open it from inside the car. rotational switch allows you to open 1/4, 1/2, or full.
there is also a manual one, it has a cable running down, you pull the cable, it will open the valve, and vice versa.

why would you want to crawl under the car to open your exhaust? Its soo much easier to just have the Ecutout installed and push a button to open it up..

how much money are we talking about for the electronic one? and also can a manual one be rigged to the inside of the car, and the price for that one? does it just help out for sound? sounds like it might open up some torque...and installing it after the cat might be more emission legal.

you dont go driving around with that cutout open anyway....
it doesnt really matter if you install before or after the cat. you dont get your car tested with that open.
the cutout is suppose to be for "off road/track use" anyway so it doesn't matter if it smog legal or not.
less restictive exhaust will give you some more torque.

would getting this or an Apexi N1 be a better investment?

get the N1 cat back. cause you won't be using the cutout all the time. you'll be running open headers all the time. noise pollution.
