whoever bought a 600cc R bike recently, can u post approx how much u paid OTD? let it be a yama, gixxer, kawi, or honda. And also where or location u purchased at if possible?
I went to dealers near SW houston, and lowest i got was 8800-9300 OTD on 03-04 on all the brands i listed. no way imma pay that price. I was thinking it might be cheaper up north? or no?
If its just houston with the insane price then i might have to buy from out of state or eat the high price. cause i been seeing people from other states paying 7800-8500 otd. i'll be fine if i can even get it close to that here.

I got a quote for a Honda CBR600RR for $8,199. This is why I'm saving up cash and buy a used one later this year. You can get a 2003 for around $6k

wow, what part of town? anyways, i got quotes for 03 cbr600rr, 04 gsxr, 03 r6, all in sw houston, but i never got a price close to $8200. and i was serious on buying today.. o well their loss, because im not giving them 9g for 03 models..
and 03 price for 6g is prob not otd, no tax title license...
so where did u get the quote for the cbr600rr, i would take tat price if its otd.

honestly you won't find anything cheaper than that.

the $8199 is probably before tt&l. that is the suggested manufacturer retail price.
i have 2 friends who bought 03 Gsx-r 750's and both paid 10k out the door.

so u think its just houston? cause reading on the bike forums, i seen people get 03-04s otd for $8-8500. plus thats msrp, dealers pay under 7g for the bike invoice, so they make around a 1000 or more off of us for a 600cc.

Becca
03-16-2004, 06:56 PM
unless u have mad negotiating skills, i don't think you'll get them that low. but its worth the shot. i'm taking my bf and his negotiating skills with me :D

What! u dun think i got mad negotiating skillz?? heh.. maybe i might see u there in the dealer tomorrow, im going with my friend and his gf to bike shop again tomorrow, supposely his gf can get us a better deal, plus we buying 2 bikes, tats gotta get us a better deal.

I've seen a couple in the recent cycletraders. but the ones i saw were from a salvage yard, claiming that there was no frame damage on any of them. I wouldn't trust that though.

i've even seen a 03 R6 for $4300 with a jacket, helmet and a trailer. but that one sold quick

You can normally find sportbikes cheaper at dealers that don't have alot of sportbike shoppers (in BFE). I've seen a dealer that advertises in cycle trader out of Oklahoma that has some real cheap prices from what I've seen. Also check with some of the dealers here in south Texas in the boonies. Just some helpful thoughts :thumb:

Just be careful... There has been alot of scamming going on on ebay and cycle trader lately.. If the deal seems too good to be true it probably is...

I would hate to see someone get stiffed :ugh:

good price on some of those used bikes, but i still have to give excuse of them being to far away...areas i searched on cycletrader were only houston, austin, dallas, san ant. anywhere further im to lazy to go check it out. plus how much would shipping cost if i bought one from out of state?

cheapest i've heard of people getting REAL used R6's (02+) is like 4300-4500. anything less than that and they usually have a salvage title.

new prices on 600's OTD are steadily going up. not only because of the rising popularity of bikes, but the prime riding season is upon us, and brand spanking new 04's on the lot, so dealers are unlikely to deal more than 500-600 off MSRP. what you can get them to do tho, is throw in some free gear, an HJC helmet, a joe rocket jacket, maybe a cheap set of gloves too. but don't expect the price to change too much, especially with the asshole dealers of houston.

If you try to buy a bike in mexico you should go in a large group and make sure you have some connections. You may end up in mexican jail.

You have been warned.
