Everyone will start talking shit now, but have you tried riding a katana? I like mine alot, I am also 6'4" and i fit perfectly on it. If you live around cycreek area I can come over and let you see for yourself. It is a very comfortable bike.

Hmmmm, probably stick to a cruiser but the best thing would be to just go sit on them and see what fits you well. Try eximport on 59 since they have a ton if different bikes. You couldn't pay me to buy anything from them but you could use them for research.

I hear the TL1000 is a good bike for taller guys, although not good for a beginner. Most of the bikes that are setup for sport touring like the zzx6, interceptor, katana, fz6, etc. should be more comfortable for taller people also. The seat, bars and pegs are set in a less radical triangle than SS bikes. But, of course the best way to find the bike for you is to go out and test them.

I've got a 92 Suzuki VX800 on Ebay for $1500.
It's a standard seating position so it's not cramped.

Try sitting on a 1000cc bike Kyle. Those ar a lot bigger in size and would probably suit you better than a 600 or 750.

VX800s are really nice, I like the way they sound and they look pretty sporty.

1000CC is not what he need to buy since he said he is just starting to ride.

wrd, even a 600 with a big guy will be more than enough speed for a beginner/novice rider. you will still outrun a Z06 on a good day. not to mention, 600's power delivery are much more forgiving.

He never said he intended on racing the bike. He was looking for comfort level.

I kinda agree, a 600 is more than fast enough for a first bike, and are very forgiving. :thumb:

doesn't really matter how he intends to ride the bike. a 600cc will always be enough for someone just starting out. would you give a new driver a mclaren F1 as their first car? a 1000cc sportbike is faster than one.
btw, all the new 1000cc sportbikes are more compact than the current 600's.

I'm 6'5 and my first bike was a Katana 600. I fit fine on the bike. Didnt have a problem. It is a great starter bike on top of that. It will do it all. That would be my road if I had to do it all over again. I would do it just as I did. After that I would move up to a boosa or a gsxr 1000

check out the Suzuki SV 650, the Kawi ZX6-R and ZX6-RR, the Honda CBR F4i, the Yamaha YZF-R 600, the Yamaha FZ6, and any of the other standard/naked bikes. They all have a more stretched out, relaxed riding position.

Yep, I would recommend trying out the yzf600r if you like the R6, see how it feels. That was one of the 2 bikes I was choosing between when I got my bike. I am only 6' though.
