during summer i'm probably gonna be taking the MSF course and after that looking for a bike, but since it's gonna be my first, there's no way i'd spend all that money getting a new bike :eek3:
so i was wondering if anyone knows any places in houston or any websites online besides ebay that sell used bikes.. i wanna get an older cbr600 like a 92 or 94 or something since they're a little slower than the new ones. plus if it gets dropped on accident, i won't freak out about panels cracking or the paint getting scratched like i would with a new one. one of my friends at school has a cbr900rr which is sexy as hell =D and anyways i asked him about it and he told me www.cycletrader.com but there's no street bikes in my area, just cruisers.
anyone else have anymore sources?

cycle trader is going to be ur best bet. try expanding the search a little more to find more bikes, more area codes, and more year choices.
ebay is also a good place as well

There's a place called JJ's Motorcycles on Airline, call information or look in the phone book. They have really decent prices and work with a lot of people to get them on their 1st bike. They also have a great return/trade-in policy when you outgrow the size of the bike you currently own. Im going to buy my 1st bike this summer from them.

Spring / summer time is the worse time to buy a bike. (As a buyer looking to save) Your best bet is looking as far north as you can.

I have bought my bike from jj's and my brother bought a bandit 600s and then traded it in on a ducati monster 900 there. They do sell alot of salvage title bikes, but nothing with frame damage. Anyone that has a bike knows that damm insurance will total a bike out for just fairing damage
Jerry is a busy busy busy man, I am awaiting an r1 from him so i can trade in my katana

Every once in a while, I'll see a good deal here (http://www.buysportbikes.com). They have a ton of salvage titles, though. If I knew what the hell I was doing (or had the $$ to do it), I would get one, get it running, fix it up. . . then probably lay it down my first time out. :hs: Though I'm not sure a bike with a salvage title would be worth all that trouble. . . ?
Anyway, yeah, I'm just talking out of my ass and really don't know much about this kind of stuff. :D
Sometimes they really do have fair prices on some clean bikes. Not too far away, either; they're in College Station. :)

looks like just about all the bikes have salvage titles :eek3: I would rather not mess with that. I think I'll just stick with cycle trader :thumb:

You might try going to a bike meet. People are usually trying to either upgrade or have several bikes, some of which they wanna get rid of.

I take it back, DO NOT BUY A BIKE FROM JJ"S MOTORCYCLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My brother Alex bought a ducati monster from there, right after getting it home he realized that the throttle cable was snapped from were the mechanic loaded the bike up and also the bike would not stay running, as soon as he would start the bike up it would rev to redline. He called that night and told Jerry. He then returned the bike to have it fixed. He has been told over and over that it would be ready next week and that has been a month ago, Now he called the dealer that jj sent the bike to and it will not be ready for another month. Alex goes to jj and says "look man i just want a bike that is running, let me have the sv650 you have here and you keep the ducati"
Jerry then went off screaming and yelling accusing Alex of breaking the ducati and not being able to make up his mind.
Bad Business, horrible service
BUYER BEWARE DO NOT GO TO JJ'S Motorcyles ON AIRLINE
