i hit a 144.4 in the stock 151-300 class of USACI and brought home a first place trophy

but then my whole fuckin system fried :( im gonna make sense of it tomorrow

yeah i think it should be okay... maybe a warranty return for one of my amps but im not sure yet we'll see...

there was this one guy in a white f150 that was pissed at me bc he had 6 15's in the tailgate and a giant port into the truck... they were selenium 15's powered by some nice orion amps.... he only pressured 144.3 haha he spent 35,000 on his system and i spent 500 :)

but anyways... there was a bike that went to audio x-cellence yesterday, when he came in we thought he was bullshitting, but he ended up getting a mobile TV screen and a dvd player for hs bike it was a ninja of some sort! haha SCREENS ON BIKES OWN

i was in the STOCK 151-300 watt class... most ppl in that class are hitting lower than me (which is why i won) cept for akapsyco, but thats bc he's crazy tite on the audio shit....

i found out today that my distribution block is fucked up so now im using one without fuses (dont worry theres a fuse under the hood)

anyways here's what i hit the 144.4 with
-MTX crossover
-memphis PR1KD 1000 watt class D amp
-2 alpine type R 1241D gual 4 ohm 12's

im running them in 1 ohm mono

Once I get my front stage setup I might do a couple competitions in SQ just for the heck of it. For the front stage I'm getting a pair of Mids my friend recommended.. I think they are Scan-Speaks and the tweets I have are the Seas CT25AF 001. Running the front stage will be a Helix HXA 400 MKII amp that will put out plenty of power. I need to call the guy tomorrow about the cross card though that I want put in the amp.

bottom line i hit a decent number with a system i pieced together for 450 bucks subs, amp and box included and i did all of the work myself

you were doing low bass right?

you can hit as high as you want with high bass, run as much power as you want. you'll get like 170s.

low bass is much harder to get into the higher numbers.

most competitors will tune these boxes for high bass, just cause its easier to hit higher numbers.

but high bass sucks compared to low bass. its the bass that moves stuff and travels.
the competitions dont care about high or low bass, it makes no difference to them.

back in 98 I got 141.0 from the dash in 0-100 watt class. 6 12" sony buy one get one free subs. and a 100w hifonics amp. custom box in the back seat of a iroc z28.

you know that stuff cost next to nothing.

classes are set by measuring the RMS Wattage at 4 ohms.

some record holder amps are like 75 watts RMS @4 and you connect it .5 ohms and its making over 1000WRMS.

its the material you use, the design, the volume of the box that complements the subs and amp that you are going to use.

you can have the cheap subs and amps, and still high the numbers like the expensive brands. its all in the box and how you set it up. sure cheap stuff will sound crap and might not last as long, but its the db numbers you get at SPL contests that counts, right?

haha.. cheater amps.. yes.. install is very important in SPL contests.. i have to agree.. but i doubt that sony is a cheater amp.. especially one of them xplod amps..

and in competitions it aint always fair.. the classes arent divided very fairly.. cuz once you get to a certain point.. a dood thats running 600W total will be facing people with like 3K Watts of power..

Doesn't IASCA divide their spl in terms of surface area? I could swear I've seen that somewhere before. like 0-235 in^3 and so on. I don't know.

I guess USAC is amp wattage while IASCA is surface area or whatever. some competitions class by sub diameter. adding up the diameters of all the subs you are running.

and those cheater amps are the shit....

back in the day there was this company called Adcom, they had amps that went down to like 1/4 and 1/8th ohm now thats a cheater amp

50w@ 4ohm
100@ 2 ohm
200@ 1 ohm
400@ 1/2 ohm
800@ 1/4 ohm
and finally a mind blowing
1600 watts @ 1/8th ohm mono!

It's not particularly good for subs to play at high volumes below the tuning frequency of the box, I don't know why anyone would tune it any higher than about 35 for daily driving!
