and evap system i bet.
when was the last time you reset the ecu, or pulled the battery terminal?
my gf had her catalyst replaced and we reset the ecu, for several days afterwards her ecu was in a not ready state, and the catalyst system/o2, egr, and evap systems were not ready for testing...she waited a few more days and drove more to get those systems running again and passed without an issue.

Ok I argee with v4lu3s there reset the ECU and drive it around you have 15 days from the first time you took the test to get it reinspected but you only get one shot for a reinspection after that the state inspector's computer kicks out the information and then you will have to pay another 39.50. Id check those things tho like unscreww the O2 sensor and see if it is bad and... Did you hollow out the cat??? If you did too bad you wont pass. on the OBD test only one thing my be wrong depending on which one it is and on safety exam nothing can be bad... well depending on him and how much he cares about it. Has your check engine light come on before the test or during the test? Well the inspector was suppose to give you a little book to tell why it failed and another little book of repair shops that are recognized by the DPS as good shops. Im a state inspector btw. Ask me any questions... just make sure you read your reply over before you post it cause your train of thought is faster than your typing :D

do what they said, but before you go back take it somewhere that can run it through a practice test.....it wont be exact, but you can get a good idea.....thats what i did.......that way you dont waste your free re-check......

im havin a problem also my cars idle which sux rpms go up and down when in park and neutral im worried that will affect my inspection i think the throttle body is the cause except that i dont know what to do to fix it. my friend said it was some screw around the throttle body but im not sure which one any one know whats up ?

It's prolly a Sensor. My friends 85' Prelude does that all the time. Even went to buy a new intake manifold and it still did it. So check that sensor first! :thumb:

i believe the screw hes talkin about it the idler valve, its a screw type idler controller. newer car is control by an electronic idler control valve.

if your car has a screw type, then chances are thats not gonna fail on you. unlike the electronic kind the component can be messed up electronically. so i would eliminate that. you can try to clean the idler valve once youre at it.

does the rpm goes up and down only when its warm engine?

possibly the fast idle valve which is found on the bottom of the throttle body on h23/22 engines and on teh manifold witht the f22a engines. i usually put a gasket between the valve and the manifold/throttle body, then bypass the coolant l ines going to it. that has cured wandering idles on 3 of my h22 engines. for the emissions test you have to have an idle that is steady between 800-1200 rpm...i was sent away cause it was idling at 1300 on one car before....and it didnt thelp that it overheated on teh dyno (instant fail).

i finally got it fixed umm this mechanic hooked it up. it was the screw i was talkin about before my rpms were at about 1200 and now its at least a 800 thats awesome now i cant even hear the car when its on it was so easy i could have done it except that i didnt want to fck up ride. i think im ready for inspection. WHAT else does the state inspection inspect on the cars? i know that they check carbon dioxide and stuff like that well lets just say the exhaust gases. is that all that is inspected? OH what about tint what is the legal percentage that you are supposed to have i believe it is 15% not sure though
