Here's the video I threw together from pieces of our DE this last weekend at TWS. This isn't my best production, but oh well.
It was my first track event in the turbo. Until I had a little guidance on how to drive it compared to my C2, I was a little lost and even kind of nervous. I felt like a 'no talent ass clown' the first few times out in it. At one point, I was going so much faster than normal, I got nervous and let off (a huge no-no) and well, you'll see.
After being humbled a little, I got help from another 996 TT owner who showed me the different dynamics of this car compared to my C2, and well, it was night and day. I was having a blast.
By the end of the weekend, I was much faster in my turbo, but it took some re-learning and getting confidence in the AWD. I became about 5 seconds faster around the track in my Twin Turbo than I am in the C2.
Here's the video. I made fun of myself a lot in it.

I think that was Robert Butweiler (sp?).
Not sure though.

Thanks. Do you have a Maxima? If so, that is a hell of a car and you'd be surprised how fun it would be to run around a track. :)

Cool. I love seeing my design pop up in random videos and pictures. :D
Solaraguy- Its not an invite only event. Its a PCA DE and it costs about $225 for PCA members and $300 or so for non members. Registration opens up for members first of course but anyone can sign up.

Yep... Poorboy is right.
Go to www.lsrpca.com and look under "Driver's Education".
Here's my C2 on their web site.

It's $275 for non-PCA members.
From a budget perspective, plan on that $275 + food + gas + $55 hotel room if you plan on spending the night in College Station.
Also, if you don't already own a helmet, you'll need one and that can run a few hundred as well, but it's only a one time purchase obviously. If you have access to one, you can just borrow.

It was probably a Porsche track day, I like when the Ferraris go up there and whomp on them from time to time. :D

LOL. You've never seen that.
The Ferraris won't run with us. Their egos can't stand being passed.
Seriously, it's funny to watch the Ferrari guys. 99% of them have no training and look hilarious out there. Their mostly 'jewelry' cars.
I've been to several Ferrari track sessions and it's just scary. I don't like to be out there with them because I don't trust those guys.
Not to mention, you need an Enzo to get a Ferrari faster than a GT3, 911 Turbo, or GT2 around the track. :thumb:

how fast where you reaching on that slight curved straight way?
do you have to take classes and have a special license to race in that event?
what car were you in, and if its a porsche, whos was it? going off roading prolly wasnt to good for the car.

It's an educational event and not a race really, so there is no racing license needed. You start in the beginners group and have an instructor ride shotgun giving you pointers and teaching you stuff on top of some class room discussion. Then you move into higher levels where instructors are not required all the time.
I hit about 140 - 145 on the back straight. I'm in my car, a 2002 911 Turbo. Going off road that time really didn't do anything bad. It just put some grass in my radiators. :)
The key is, when you go off like that, not to try and fix it. Just get the car pointed straight and hit the brakes. As long as you're not spinning, you'll be fine.
