True Rock bands vs Rock Punks

Alright I know I may be old style but you have to agree that old bands like Smashing Pumpkins, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bush, Nirvana, 311, Sublime, and etc. Now this new wanna be rock punks have shit well their not as good as the old bands like... well I don't know what they're even called see my point. What would you say about this?

The Darkness
Queens of the Stone Age

and dare i say...The White Stripes. theyre very blues influenced however, but so was Black Sabbath if youve ever taken the time to really listen to them.

id say the white stripes are more blues than rock. who really cares though, if any band fits into a category so neatly its USUALLY not worth listening to. all the bands you mentioned have a unique aspect that sets them apart and thus makes them worth listening to amongst the hordes of crap which is on the radio.


I actually turned on the buzz when I came back to Houston last weekend. I couldn't name ANY of the songs on there...and furthermore they all were fucking AWFUL.
