okay i want to start learning to dj. i was wondering what kind of equipment and which store in houston can i get them at. For right now i was planning on getting just turntables and a mixer. Which brand and models do you guys suggest?

Because why waste money on other crap.

Get a Behringer Mixer.
Maybe the clone of the Pioneer 600.

I have a Vestax pdx a2d turntable. I only have one though. Its in mint condition with no signs of wear. I have the original box and papers for it. These are the battle style turntables and are no longer manufactored. I do have another one but its with some one else at the moment. I have a Shure M44-7 needle on it allready. If you dont know well Vestax is a top name brand. Pure quality and PERFECT for mixing and scratching. Depending on what type of dj you are. The needle is made for hard handling and is in mint condition as well. I also have a vestax 06 pro mixer which is also in mint condition. I dont have th box nor the papers for it but I do have all the cords. I'm asking 3 for the table and 2 for the mixer. We can deal on the mixer,obo. If you have any parts for an EG -92-95 civic, let me know. We can trade if you'd like or work out a deal. LMK please. Thanks

i'd learn first by mooching off a friend's equipment ... then decide whether u wanna pursue it ... it gets expensive: gear, music, transportation, etc.

I agree. Thats what i used. Those are legendary damm near as what serious DJs use. (im refering to the TT 1200's)
I think the mixer should be up to how YOU mix. Whats your style. I had a 'Flash-former' for a little while and it sucked ass. I used a Radio Shack mixer (it wasnt that bad) Then a Genesis and then a Alesis. Vestax makes good mixers too. (Like SloESLex said)
I used a friends guitar speakers and a Radio Shack amp. (I had to switch to Pioneer amp later because the R.S. one kept overheating)

i got technics mk1200 and they are industry standard but there patent expired so now everybody is makin imitations. which isnt a badthing but i wouldnt get technics unless u know ur gonna be a dj fo sho. u can get the same type of turntable that is cheaper than some technics but they wont be "technics" or "1200s". i have seen ssooooo many wannabe dj's that own 1200's and dont know how to beat match or scratch, the only thing they scratchn is their asses.

if i were u i would buy some turntables that are stable not ones the wiggle and jiggle. the thing about the technics was that they were made solid like a mother fucker made of metal not plastic like others.

Stanton is good for beginners but if i were u i would get some vestax turntables theyre cheap and good quality and they are stable too. but best of all theyre great for beginners.

heres an idea, go to guitar center and buy one of those dj kits with everything included. try it out for 30 days and if u dont like it then u can return it for a refund. if u think its ur thing and u could get into it then return it and get something thats better quality, or whatever u want.

yeah rane mixers are for clubs cus they so solid and dont EVER bleed unless u dont know what ur doin.

honestly, we can't tell right now .. if anybody wants to start a crew.. maybe in the future i dont know ..plus we dont know each other's level .. just practicing, adn helping each other is all good for me ..
