Cheap 91 Suzuki VX800

I called to check up on my next bike, '03 Suzuki SV1000, only $140 a year liability.

I paid $77 a year on my CBR when I had it. That is just liability, full coverage is insane.... 4k+ a year. Unless the bike is paid off alot of places wont do just liability and you're stuck having to get it on full coverage.

Only good thing about full coverage for bikes: You pay out the ass for it, but if you have any type of wreck (even if its small) they usually give you a brand new bike as a replacement. My friend had 3 minor wrecks, his bike wasn't even totalled and he got a brand new bike each time.

What year is it? The 03-04s are ok, but gotta be careful the the 2nd gear issue on the 99-02 R6's. Thats a $2000 repair. I can tell you all about it.

The cheapest company you can go through for full coverage ins on the bike is going to be State Farm. Dont bother looking anywhere else. If your looking for full coverage, PM me and I'll give you some info on where to go and what to do. Liability is easy to get anywhere. If your getting that, I would get theft coverage on top of it. Regardless, lets go riding once you get it. :thumb:

This year, there are going to be so many freaking bikes everywhere. Everyone seems to be getting a bike. Last summer, I didnt see one bike in my complex. This year, there are already 5 just on my block alone. (2 Belonging to theives http://www.houston-imports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68960) I bet ins rates double next year and cops be hating cause of the fookers who run. Be prepared to have a gun pointed in your face if you get pulled over. Happened the last two times I was pulled over.

1) Harris County Constables Precint 4. (Mostly the patrol along the Beltway on the NW / North beltway.) They are trigger happy. Be careful

The last event with them: I merged off gessener to the feeder on the beltway 8 torwards 290. (This is by the horse track) Cross traffic was stopped, no traffic in front of me. I opened it up to about 100 then backed off. Stopped at the red light on fairbanks. (Next light) While at a stand still at the front line, two cops pass me on each side, blocked the entire intersection, a german guy jumps out pointing a gun at me. He walks up to me with the gun in my face, asked for my wallet and told me to go to the gas station. Wrote me a ticket 95 in a 50.

2) Metro cops:

(HOV lane) I slowly pass a bus and about 4 cars in front of the bus where the HOV lane goes over 610. (By nw mall, morning inbound time) They were driving too slow + kicking up too much dust. Passed by the metro cop at the check point. Wave, continue on. 30 seconds later a metro cop is next to me on the HOV pushing me up against the HOV lane wall forcing me to stop. He jumps out with his gun pointed in my face and tells me not to move. Apparantly, I passed a HPD cop going to work, and he told on me at the check point.

There are a few more cases but I dont want to create a lot for people to read. There have been times where I havent had guns pulled on me, but thats only when they didnt have to catch up to me.

cops are not allowed to pull guns unless there is immediate danger. werid. My freinds and I about 8 of us were doing 100+ on 45 heading back from galvestion cop saw us got in front of all of us ran out in the middle of the freeway waving nothing but a flashlight.

Yeah, I thought they aren’t allowed to do that either. But its been done several times to me and I wasn’t even doing crazy shit! Its people like the Houston Hooligans who make cops hate sportbikes. Ever hear their stories?

Im not sure about what the "law" says about "drawing a weapon". If you get blocked in and he pulls a gun on you, he will say he did so because he was afraid. Can’t u classify a bike as a deadly weapon? So if you decided to take off, it would probably be best to take off left, right or turn around. Because you take off towards the cop, the cop wont say he tried to stop you, he will say that you tried to run him over. If you’re ever getting stopped for excessive speeds, I would just stop. No matter how fast you were going. If you have a brick of cocaine on you, it’s probably a better idea to run haha

lol @ the hooligans. I have met one. sexilude knows them i believe. I could see how the cops would think they would need to pull there gun. What do you think the ratio of people who stop to the people whi run is? I would think that the majority usually run if they're on a decent bike. iono. all the guys i have met said they usually do..

'01 R6 and I pay $150 a year for liability through Progressive. Basically...

Liability = dirt cheap
Full Coverage = ass raping (but it's full coverage)

If I didn't have a garage I would definately up for full coverage. I think they quoted me $1800 or so a year, 23 with a clean driving record.

Damn Noquicky you have some wild stories but I totally understand. I've been pulled over 3 times on the 6 and only gotten a ticket once. I was speeding on HWY 6 and the Fort Bend cop was like you're lucky I pulled you over and not the Sugar Land one that caught you. Then he let me go haha, I was like sweet. Anyway, we need to get these parts on my bike and go for a ride!

Daniel :)

ok, all these new insurance laws have me confused. it used to be that if you had to finance a bike, you had to have full coverage. then it was changed to if you have less than 5k that you owe on it, you don't have to have full coverage. now i heard that you can just get liability any time, even if the bike is financed??

anyone know for sure? i'm buying another bike this summer (can't tell you what yet tho, hehe) and have been getting some insane insurance quotes on it. the option to have liability would certainly help out. any help?

Yeah, checked with progressive and its gonna be a lil over 2k for a year..so thats like 170-180 a month.

I may not have a choice because i may use the loan that i'm approved for through my credit union and they require full coverage.

And that quote was under my dad's name! :eek3:

if you have to get full coverage, then your only choice of a non-insane quote is going to be from state farm.

$150 a year liability on a '01 R6 through Progressive. Not too bad but full coverage was $1700 and I just couldn't justify the cost.
