My 1988 Honda Prelude Si has had a speedo messing up for a while now. I looked it up and its a common problem for 88-89 Preludes, the problem is said to be the upper speedo cable. Now i have another problem. my tachometer (factory) is reading way off. It seems as if someone took off the needle and placed it like 1,000 rpms lower than what its suposed to be at. now its all screwed up. any ideas? im guessing that i will have to take the cluster out and take off the needle and re-set it. is there another reason for it messing up or could it simple be re-setted?

buy a new gauge cluster..

The best thing to do would be to replace it with a new one, or a newer one, and replace that upper speedo cable.

Well i fixed it on my own, i opened the cluster and took the needle of the tach and set it back to normal, now it works great.

I have the same problem with my 85 'lude, it's just the cable, no worries!
