i have some audiobahns with the chrome flames... im going to custom my system in one of my hatch by backfiring the subs as in having the subs reversed showing the magnet, is it going to be a problem..am i going to lose bass, mess the sound? neone with experience with the back firing sub sounds..

i have 3 audiobahn and 2 of them are inverted. they hit really hard, its just the way the installer installs the subs. i know you have to find out wich sub is gunna run phase and inphase, i dunt have any clue on how to do that. i hit 148 DB when i was testing it out at SoundJamz in Pearland.

The phase is set either with a switch on the amp (0 or 180 degrees is how it's labeled usually) or by swapping the polarity on the sub's terminals.
If you had two inverted and one regularly mounted, you'd just make the two inverts the same phase, the third guy the opposite. That's about all the figuring out there is to it, I do believe.
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. They always do :squint:

im pretty sure thats correct... someone told me that if i inverted one of my alpines i'd just have to invert both coils and i'd be set

oh yeah and inverting is cool if you have a small box with a sub that needs alot of air bc all the air that the magnet takes is on the outside

Well, I'm certain on the swapping the polarity to reverse the phase, I just meant someone will correct me if I'm wrong about WHICH subs in that three-sub setup would be reversed, but pretty certain on that one too. If anyone wants to loan me three subs...be happy to figure out a definitive answer :P

3-10's should hit around 153-156...
IMO invert'n the subs you lose bass
dak>>I guess that was aimed at me...:) ...the way you would want to run the faze is the one that is NOT inverted would be correct polarity and the two that are inverted would be reversed polarity...

Given that in a single stroke, each is gonna excurt forward once and backward once would it REALLY matter which one was reversed, as long as the two inversed ones were the same polarity, and were opposite of the correctly mounted one?
Or is reverseing phase on the correctly mounted one just universal for the 'installer code'? :P
And it was directed at you and/or GSteg, whoever saw it first

Caps don't really add volume unless your electrical system is suffering so much that it makes a noticeable difference.

<---------------------- 2 12's...
if you are only hit'n 147.5 there is something wrong...
dak4.7>>SHHHHHHHHHHHHH...don't mention "that" code...noone is suppozed to know about it...but installers...
if you reverse polarity on the one sub not inverted and have correct polarity on the two that are inverted...the subs would be move'n inward...not outward...
