check fuses first. all fuses. This happenend to me last week and it was just a fuse. Also tape up the exposed wires.

thanks, but im not new to these things.... no fuses are burnt... the wires didin't touch each other, the power wire from my tach shorted again the metal housing of the headunit and the unit started smoking from inside... so something electronic got shorted... i put a different deck in and everything works perfect now, but gotta get this one fixed, its my mp3 unit... thanks anyways

sounds like you might be fuct. what side of town do you live on? I think that houston car stereo on the NW side has someone that repairs them. Also there is an electronics repair shop on 1960 across from mobile one that will definately fix it. dont know the name though sorry.

If you are over in the Copperfield/Bear Creek area, check out Etek. They are an authorized Sony repair center, but also repair other brands. Best thing is, they give free estimates. They are located on Clay road, near Hwy 6 north.
