View Full Version : Houston Imports nike+ run challenge

Ok so I gather That i'm not the only has a nike sportsband+ and i'm sure many of you have ipods (that can get the nike + sensor). So I designed a test challenge lasting the rest of the month to see how many people sign up. This is a distance event, and i'm just ticked that I dont run as far as I use to. I can set up other "virtual" events and challenges depending on how many people signed up.

If you dont know what I am talking about this is it.

you either buy that kit for your ipod or you get what I have

not as accurate as a garmin forerunner (as that uses gps) but it does the job pretty well if you calibrate it right. Plus the 2nd version (current) model of the sports-band fixed many of the errors that the first had (nike exchanged mine v1 for defects such as condensation inside the screen, hyper sensitivity to water, and the screens cracking and leaking.)

they are designed to be used with the POS nike running shoes but you can Velcro it underneath your laces or you be silly and buy shoe lace sensor pouches or clips. Just remember the apple logo should be on the bottom if you are looking down at your shoes, but appear upside down if looking at someone else shoes.

I named the challenge: Houston imports test run challenge

yeah i've been wanting to get a garmin (the current model with the touch bezel) but i'm waiting for the prices to drop on them. I'm sure that more people on here would be more acclimated to the $30 to $50 price range of these than the 300-400 dollars or so for garmin 405.

although I'm tempted to buy an older (gps unit on my wrist) garmin as they are now down to about 100 new. I'll give my GF my nike+ when I get a garmin.

I have the Garmin 310xt. Works great and I especially love the fact that it has a 20hr battery and waterproof down to 50M. Plus, I prefer the buttons rather than the touch bezel from the 405 since I had some friends who had problems navigating through the menus with sweaty fingers or condensation.

Otherwise, great products! The 305 is on sale if you don't mind an outdated GPS.

305 is what I meant by running with a huge fricking GPS unit on my hand lol. 301 is even worse.

seems kinda of fishy to me, Because I know a lot of people that run track and even they dont run that fast, that many miles in 1 day unless the are elite.

ran 10.56 km on 6/21/2010 at 12:55 PM with a pace of 5'24"/km06/21/10 | 3:25 AM on NikePlus

ran 10.54 km on 6/21/2010 at 1:00 PM with a pace of 5'24"/km06/21/10 | 1:33 AM on NikePlus

well i erased whom ever that was. You never posted and said that was you.

If you do not check in here then you name will be deleted

Plus it seems fishy when sub 5.xx minute/mile 10ks are run back to back in a matter of 20 minutes as was done again today at odd hours of the day.

If you are on here then post on here and sign up. it will give you the runs back.

so far only 2 people have signed up. Looks like I might not do this again once it times out in a about 5 days
