I hate when people take a v6 mustang and put the gt back bumper on, dual it out and throw some gt rims on it. Someone must stop these people! However, this is not as bad as the gt mustang I saw with a vtec emblem on the back. Maybe that wouldn't be a bad idea for Ford to develop variable valve timing for the mustang.

actually yall can clown on the GTR mustangs...but i think some company (like some aftermarket tuning house for mustangs) has a "GTR" package in whihc, if you buy it, they put 3 GTR emblems on your car (2 where the GT emblems are on either fender 1 on each side and 1 on the back)
i think this company is steeda or something like that?
someone enlighten me.

besides Ferarri, Ford holds the record for the most consecutive Le Mans victories. 1966-1969 ford won Le Mans with the GT40 Mk1-IV.
they are the only team to win 4 consecutive lemans using the same car. ferarri won 6 consecutive but used 3 different cars the 250, 275 and 250LM (which is very different from the 250).
audi is second, they have won 3 consecutive using the R8.
Mazda is the ONLY japanese team to EVER win Le Mans though in 1991 using the 787B.
import or domestic, who cares?...a great car is a great car.

SVT Lightenings are SLOW!
Other than that ford builds some good cars, although quality doesn't seem to be their number one priority.
Personally I like the Jaguar S Type R! Ford product, well somewhat!

Name one truck on the market import or domestic that will take it in the 1/4 mile. :hit:
Try checking WWW.HALO.COM
Guarantee there are plenty of lightnings on there that will run better times then your car.
I have to agree though most Fords are slow. :thumb:

Anybody have stats on a R33 GTR? That's the only car that comes to mind for me......The base cost of the Skyline is exactly 35k....The one in Sport Compac Car ran a 11 sec. 1/4 mile....basicly stock....It even had a cat. converter.
Also, you might want to start another thread in the "Car Talk" forum so this doesn't get locked.

SRT-10, they will be out soon and spanking some ass!
Oh yeah, my POS ran a 13.1@106 untuned on a blown headgasket in 2 places at 10psi. That was it's first run ever, full interior, with A/C, all power options, I don't sacrifice any comfort. That was also on a virtually stock engine setup. I am now going fully built and have a bigger turbo. This was also the only pass we got to make in the car, it overheated and blew coolant unto the staging lanes and we were kicked off. I am certain a 12 second timeslip would hve been procured if we got traction off the line.
MOST FORD'S are slow from the factory, I mean yes the Mustang is a good performace bargain for the buck. But what happens 3 years down the road when it is basically falling apart. If you want cheap speed then that is the way to go though. Oh yeah an although SVT is a Ford product, it is still SVT and therefore in a "special" designated vehicle with a sole purpose in mind, power and lots of it.
I did considered buying a Lightening at one point in time, and have nothing against them. Just that someone offended me by saying that my Prelude was a POS and not worth anything against his Lightening (mark...whatever his last name is). So from now on I am going to make the standard ignorant assumption and group all Lightening owners into the class of degenerates that he belongs too.

first responce anyone remeber cyclones? I do and yes they could easily take the lightnings
second responce, you are right no imports under 35K Stock would take a new cobra, but there are poeple on this boards who have spent maye 12-13K with mods and car included that can tear up an o3 cobra and still have 12 grand to do with whatever they please, yes cobras are fast stock yes imports have to mod to become fast, but to pull 11 seconds out of a 4 cylinder is quite impressive and most domestics continually make the excuse well look how much he spent on the motor thats why he beat me, bla blha excuses excuses, what matters is how you spend that money to exract the most power adn speed, anyone can dump cash into a car, but pulling faster times and spending less is what I think is something that should be respected

One could also take that '03 Cobra, invest 1000 bucks, and be running high 10's/low 11's.
Your also forgetting that whoever is driving that Cobra is driving a car that has great looks and can hold it's own on a road course. The person in the civic is driving a car that might be 10 years old. Not much fun in that. Don't get me wrong, I plan on buying a 10 year old hatch soon, but whatever. I'm just trying to play the devil's advocate.

Sure...come on up to TWS on March 20th. There will be about 20-30 cars there all day but its about $250 to rent the track. ;)
If its drag racing your looking for, I'm not much into that. I go maybe one or twice a year. My best time so far has been a 12.8@113mph with a 2.2 60ft time on street radials.

First response I was talking about a truck in production right now not 8 or 9 years ago. But the syclones were a badass truck, I wanted one for a long time but could never find one at a good price.
Second response, we were talking about production cars I thought, maybe i got the wrong idea. But if thats the case I'm sure there are plenty of fox body mustangs with alot less $$ invested that could run as fast if not faster then the import you are talking about, but then you would have to hear the classic import excuse "but you have 4 more cylinders then I do, thats why you beat me!!". I dont want to start a big import Vs. domestic thread arguement I was just stating my opinion. Oh and yes, you can dump about a grand into the new cobras and easily put 500 HP to the wheels. I would have to say the new Cobras are the best bang for the buck perf. car on the market right now. Why arent they bringing any badass turbo imports like the old supras, Rx7's to compete in the US markets any more. I've wondered that for a long time. Werent selling enough??

Yes I consider euros an import but what euro is gonna run with the cobra for under 35K. The stock cobra with a good driver should run high 12's. Even better with DR's. :D Also noone answered my ??, what happened to all the good turbo imports?? Why dont they import them anymore?

The stock 03 is good for better then high twelve’s stock.. More like 12.5's with a decent driver.
