heres my b4 and after. A bunch of you all that i've met probably remember the before instead of the after :facepalm: My motivation was really simple. I hated the way I looked after i saw my own pictures from a vacation I took in 07. That was enough for me to say enough is enough. Got my diet in check and the pounds fell off. Didn't even exercise the first 6 months really. Pretty sure i lost a lot of muscle though.

Managed not to gain any weight at all in november and december which im happy with and have been hitting the gym no less than 5x a week for the past month. Working on losing more bf and gaining more strength in the gym. Its steadily been increasing. Im about 5ft 7in if that matters

Post your own! My new years resolution/goal is to make my "after" picture my new "before" picture and see what happens at the end of 2010.

We're pretty much in the same boat in terms of size and weight...I started to hit the gym in late November and been going consistanly since then. I been doing good thing is that i dont have my diet in check, and thats my missing link. but your picture are good motivation. keep up the good work :thumb:

Great job man! That really reminds me a lot of myself, I think the heaviest i got was like 240 and now I'm down into the high 150's I think. I'll try to remember to post pics later from a few years back up to anything I have recent. My motivation was the same as yours, hated the way I looked so had to make a change. My goals are to just keep on goin and not let myself regress.

Gain back the 12 lbs I lost over the holidays, add an additional 10 on top of that by summer. Taking a month and a half off really helped my ache's, but my right bi is still giving me a bit of a problem.

Well my story is the before pic was like 05 -06 I gained so much weight from having a baby and being unhealthy.. I worked out for many years but never got the results I wanted. Finally through encouragement I signed up for my first figure competition, I knew standing on stage in a bikini was enough to make me eat right! Well it worked, I felt amazing, I won overall and that means I am not a pro natural figure competitor.

My GOALS are divided I am bulking and getting mass now until end of February then I start training again for my 1st show of the year July 17. My goal is to gain muscle muscle muscle..... Then in Sept and Nov I have my pro shows.

Good job dude! (you look like Chris Rock in the last pic)

As for me...
I turned 30 and wanted to be in shape so I started working out to lose weight. Shortly after, I had back surgery and put the weight back on. My goal was to get toned so I decided to add some weights into the mix and I've been hooked since.
My current goal is to add more size then work to regain my definition. I'm not looking to win shows or anything... It's a real self confidence booster and I loooooove how it feels to be in shape. It's actually done wonders on reducing my stress level.

I'm not much of a camera guy so I don't have any before pictures. This is one from the end of November.

My garage. I don't have a cable fly machine. I want one sooooooooo bad. Till then, I'm stuck doing flies with barbells or tension cables.
I have some change saved up and I was debating on getting a cable fly machine or wheels.

Im in the same boat as the OP.. saw pictures from past years and didnt like the way i looked, so i started at the end of 2008/begining of 2009 just doing cardio, but didnt watch diet too much. In august i joined the gym, but wasnt eating right and my routine wasnt all that great . By septmeber/october I came up with a diet/workout plan and i've seen better gains and feel better with myself.( couldnt find better pictures, but i guess u can tell by the face. lol) 2010 is to gain more muscle and lean ( and six pack lol)

I have a garage gym and it's great. However there's something to be said about going to a gym. I was able to train with someone today for the 1st time... EVER and it was such a great and knowledgeable experience. Now I'm seriously considering joining a gym.
I saw all the equipment and my eyes widened like a kid in a candy store.

I'd say a garage gym is good for starters but eventually you're gonna need to join a gym. They have soooooo many added things that can better ones quest for a good body.

I was just looking at some equipment to turn my spare bedroom into a gym. What equipment do you have in yours and what do you feel is lacking that you would need a gym for?

I've got a mess of cardio equipment and some free weights. Nothing too fancy, but it did the trick for a few years:

Elliptical
treadmill
stationary bike
Adjustable bench
500 lbs of free weights and a cage (I think that's what you call it. It resembles a smith machine, except without the fixed bar)

I'm lacking a cable cross over machine and would looove to obtain one. Those things are so versatile.

As for needing a gym - I feel it just offers more than I can ever get. The hammer strength machines are incredibly awesome because they allow you to go heavy and keep good form. (among many other machines)
Also, for me the wide array of equipment would be fuel to continue on with weight training. It's kind of like having a big collection of guns and ammo... you want to fire every gun a few times and when you get to the end of the pile, you can't wait to start over again.

You know that is always a down side to working out at that time - I am the same I workout 4 to 6

but plan your workouts ahead of time that way if someone is on the machine just move along to the next machine - or I have been known to wait, if someone is on the machine I need and they have 2 sets left I will sit my happy there and wait...

Especially for like the cable or squats.
