There is no number, and never any research to back up those claims. Your body will adapt to whatever you throw at it.

Good rule of thumb is 40- 60 grams every 3-4 hours. Just depends on your body. start lower and see what you can actually digest. You'll just POOP the rest.

Well last night i took in about 84gr post work out. Your body will only take in as much as it needs, then rest is wasted. It depends on your weight too. People with higher BMI will obviously absorb more protein at once.

Too much protein can also cause kidney stones in some people.

There are not any true studies to support that. It is just a myth.

Whether restricting meat protein alone has any protective value without restricting sodium as well is unknown. Most studies to date have found no difference in stone development between people with low and normal meat protein diets over four years. A 2000 study reported that only dramatic reductions in meat protein had any preventive effect against stone recurrence.

i always thought it was rule of thumb u take what u weigh

if u weigh 150lbs u take 150g of protein....of course u gotta spread that out in a course of a day..with the bulk being after ur workout

That is the rule of thumb. Body builders are said to take more 1.5 - 2 times the bodyweight.

I get kidney stones from time to time. Mine were primarily made of protein. Just something to keep in mind before you over load with protein. Too much of anything can be bad.
