i have a 92' hatchback 240sx. I have a box built for my car and to Alpine type S sub specs but was told it could also be used for JL. the box is ported (square port at the bottom) and i have a JL 500/1 monoblock amp and 2 12in JL w-6v1's. What kind-of sound and numbers will i hit? Should i add another amp? and id i add another amp will i have to upgrage the alt. or get another battery, or what will i need to do to add the other amp? and would it be worth it?

what are you try'n todo?....
you could have 5 amps on your systems and not need to upgrade your electrical or you could have one and it would be too much...just depends on how you set it up...

get more power... at least a 500/1 per woofer. have your charging system checked. weirdest shit comes up from time to time. i actually put a punch 700s in a navigator before. it drew right at 62 amps of current, and the piece of shit charging system couldn't handle it. we tried everything, and the dealership swore their shit was fine. crazy... that was right after i put 3 bd1500's and a 750x in another without a problem.

i just put in a new alternator about 2 months ago and a new battery around the same time. i've ran this one jl 500/1 in already with no problems

that should be all you need...the only thing I can think of is to check your wire'n of the subs...you can parrellel them and it should hit harder...

I know I seem to contradict you in like every thread....but why would lowering the imp. on a JL amp make any audible difference?

it might not...but it does make a little more power...something like 25 watts more...if you drop it from like 4ohms to 1-2 ohms...
and I don't mind you contradict'n me...its a good challenge...

hey.. are your w6v1's dual 4 ohm or dual 2 ohm...
if theyre dual 4 ohm then i'd recommend a memphis st1000D, its a d class (digital) that is 1 ohm stable and produces 1100 watts RMS at that load
if theyre dual 2 ohm i'd run the memphis st1500D bc its 2 ohm stable and puts out 1500 watts RMS @ 2 ohm mono.
right now im running 2 alpine type-R 1241 D's (dual 4 ohm) into 1 ohm mono into a memphis 16-PR1KD 1000 D it hits pretty hard (sealed box in a civic coupe)

i have a JL 500/1 already, and i was using it to push 2-12in Alpines (the dvc type S) which is a step lower than what you have and they didn't last very long on that amp. they did sound good when they worked but they just can't handle the amp. hte 500/1 is more powerful than what most people think.

I think the v.1 W6's were/are only offered in dual 6ohm, so if that's the case, 1.5ohm for him :)

then i think he should stick with the JL
dual 6 ohms = 3 ohms/ 2subs = 1.5 ohms
arent the 500/1 and the 1000/1 1.5 ohm stable?
hmm its a conspiracy to get you to buy their shit

I agree--dual 1.5ohm (or dual 3ohm, something like that ) W7's? Come on now.. :roflmao:
And yeah I do believe they're 1.5ohm stable
EDIT: And if they're not, there's always the nice cheap JBL bp series mono amps that I like so much :thumb:
