Whoa...well said sir. It boggles my mind that the community doesn't realize that WE make the show...WE being the car community here in Texas. I push to the members of 16niss to always support the events that come out and try to push hard to make something happen...because once shows stop coming...what are WE as a community going to do?

As a whole...the show had all the elements to be an amazing event...but the turnout was so so. Do something positive to make a change and bring more of your friends out to support the shows that are making the effort to come out.

Venue
The indoor venue is what made HIN stand out from the other shows. By moving the shows outdoors it has lost some of it's appeal. Yes it cost more for an indoor venue but you make it up in car show attendance, spectators, vendors and the quality associated with the brand.

Entertainment
The focus is being shifted from the cars to the entertainment. The cars are the reason why we have a huge scene in the first place and everything else should come second. Although live entertainment brings in spectators there is a chance you may lose some of the true car enthusiasts. If you lose the cars your basically going to a concert with vendors.

Friday events
Now a competitor must take 1-2 days off from work to roll in and set up. So on top of the registration fee the competitor is also losing money from work. Again this may be good for the spectators who can attend the event after work but it does not take the competitor into consideration. This especially affects turnout.

Media coverage
Do you know of any business that does not want free media coverage? Our industry is already lacking quality and sufficient media coverage and this only hinders our scene from progressing. For example: Tunerlifestyletv would have produced a bad ass vid if video cameras were allowed. This was a missed marketing opportunity along with all the other viral videos that help promote this event.

There are other issues that I can address but will leave it at that. This is my view from a business perspective.

HIN was a great show. it lacked show competitors because drivers have their cars in various stages. they had so much going on to entertain the spectators. korn was definitely the highlight of my night.

you cant really say HIN was solely an indoor event in the past. that might be how it was in your area or in texas. but outside of texas i can count numerous HIN / HID events where they were held outdoors. just saying, maybe there were scheduling conflicts for all of the indoor arenas? i know they are holding the dallas show at the new cowboys stadium. but they prolly cant hold it indoors because its football season.

im not directing any of this at you dex, just saying in general, ppl need to complain less and do more. everyone always wants to complain and place blame but no one wants to act on or take responsibility for anything.

There are other issues that I can address but will leave it at that. This is my view from a business perspective.


1. The reason why the shows is all outdoors this year is to due to economics, it cost 3x's more indoors than outdoors. Since HIN lost Circuit City as one of their main sponsors, they had to cut cost down. Either shut the production down or do it out doors. And since they had to do it outdoors,....they brought in TONS of "outdoor" entertainment... flying motorcycles, more vendors, boxing ring, football themed events, and even at Austin, the Mazda test drive. It's not indoors anymore but damn, HIN did and does a great job filling up that void.

2. Entertainment. HIN is smart to bring these extra elements into the show feature.... people in the past that saw 300-700 cars in a show and a stage w/ a booty contest got bored... quick. Now that as many cars show up (like that's HIN's fault) but then spend another 100k+ on entertainment to make up for it.... damn... sounds good to me.

3. Friday events: new concept, new idea..... it may work, it may not. But damn props to them for taking sucks a big risk and trying new things

4. Media coverage: it is what it is. Since alot of us are jaded to this type of scene, no matter what the event does... it's still "oh.. just that, and this".

This was a Rivalry Nights event to coincide with a college football game. Texas vs. Texas Tech in Austin. The one in Dallas is scheduled to coincide with Texas vs. OU football game. There is no Houston college football game.

You cant expect Houston teams to go them by the masses to Austin for a show every single time.

That's just a weak excuse. I've driven thousands of miles cross country to enter a show. A few hours from Houston to Austin is nothing bro...nothing.

Regardless of the turnout. I always enjoyed and looked foward to HIN. HIN is truly a CAR SHOW. Its not for the mild competitors. You will only dominate and win this show if you build your " SHOW CAR" according to the points system. At the end, thats why you see all the best at these shows.

Some might not really understand the point system and don't understand it. Some might even say its not fair, but HIN had to set the bar of competition in the import/euro show like AUTORAMA to domestic.

All you can do is build a car that could win with the best of them and cannot be overlooked by politics or favoritism.

Even if you just want to go show just to show regardless of the outcome, the indoor aumbiance of HIN is like no other.

This is why HIN doesn't come to Houston. Because everyone complains about the show. Take as it is and have fun with it. Everyone complaining about it will make spectators not want to come out.

im reading some of these comments and realize you guys are extreme idiots. A multi-platinum band comes to perform, tons of vendors, video games, boxing ring, drifting, etc and you guys still think it was a bad show. Sure the turn out was low... but who's fault it that? Not HIN. Is OUR FAULT. We build the cars, we make the scene, and we blame others?? phsssshhh.. get real.. You guys admire Cali crews? East coast crews? Quit bitchin and do something about it.

It was a great show.. props to the local teams that came reppin' hard.

this show was better than the last HIN back in April. had more things to do, more entertainment. my friend entered in a call of duty 4 tournament and almost wont $100 bucks. Korn was the highlight, they rocked my eardrums. lets see if this state can make it big for HIN Dallas/Arlington. no more excuses
