I actually started my 3 months goal 10 days ago.

Goal was to gain 15lbs of lean mass

Height: 6'1"
Weight: 180lbs
Body Fat: 19%

I am trying to get to 195lbs

Gained 5lbs in 10 days so not bad but I'm just bulking up .. not muscle mass.

Currently weight 185 .. i have been eating alot more trying to bulk up. I think i want to get to 205 and then balance it out with some weight lifting and cardio and see how i look at 195

Current routine

Abs
chest/shoulders

abs
bicep/tricep

Actually i have always had muscular legs. PLayed soccer for long time so i think im more focused on upper body for now. Im working out at home with a home gym, as far as the back, i might sign up at a gym soon to take care of that.

Weight - 215 lbs
Body Fat - N/A
Goal Weight - To look like Goku lol. But really it's 195 lbs.

Workout Routine - For the next three months I'm gonna focus on cardio and put weight training on the back burner. Going to jog 2-3 miles in the mornings before school and work. Then at night will do a quick 30 minute resistance training routine with either basketball or elliptical to close out the night for another 30 minutes.

Now pics taken on 08-30-09 at 11 p.m.

wrd...for some its a pain to pack on muscle b/c they just weren't really built that way. Could be b/c of metabolism, bone or muscle structure or whatever. Me i've always been kind of built naturally especially around my arms and shoulders just need to shed some pounds to get some definition.

I just started a low carb diet

TheSnowMan

I just started a low carb diet

Becareful on a low carb diet. You run your carbs too low and you will stick your body in starvation mode and stop your weight loss. When running low carb diets it is better to spike your carbs one day out of every four. 3 days with low carb and then one day with higher carbs.

This is unless you are training for a competion or a show then you will run a low carb diet for a short while.

SonicGSR
09-03-2009, 06:09 PM
So u suggest I do a low carb for 3 days then spike it up high 1 day , then go back to high carb?
I'm was currently doing a 15% carb/40% pro/45% fat with a 1800cal a day. And im on a 4 day split workout. . Weight 176lbs hieght 5'7". Do u think that would be a good way to shred fat and gain muscle at the same time ?

I suggest taking it 3 days of low carbs then one day of high carbs then back to 3 and just repeat that process. The process of cycling carbs is the same as cycling calories. It enables you to drop your carbs/calories low but keep your body out of starvation/survival mode by spiking it every fourth day.

I wouldn't drop any less than 20% carbs on the low days and take it up to about 45-50% on the high day.

I would try:

Low Days: 30% carbs, 45% protein, 25% fat

High Days: 50% carbs, 30% protein, 20% fat

That is just what I would try, everybody is different; what works for one might not work for someone else. However I think that would be a good baseline and you can adjust from there.

Also I don't know what kind of lifestyle/workout you are doing but your calories are a bit low for your size. Guys usually run in the 2000's even when cutting. As for trying to lean and gain muscle at the same time it will be difficult. If you go to the summer thread I posted a huge response to that question, so you can look it up there and ask any questions you might have.

Again, everybody's body is different and reacts differently to the things they eat so this is just a baseline and should be adjusted for how your body reacts as you progress. I still wouldn't run any carbs less than 20% unless you are preparing for a show/contest.

Well this is me as of today. I have not worked out since May. I just started back at it this week. I dont really lose weight when I stop working out. I just gain a little body fat and lose muscle. I will mostly retain this body weight and increase all of my big max's by 100 or more pounds withing the next 3 months. I've got a huge advantage though, because I was big 3 months ago. So Im guessing the old muscle memory theory will come into play a bit. (Try to look past the millions of freckles. :Goofy:)

Trying looking into some veggie dishes, cut off processed meats and soft drinks.

Dad lost 50 lbs in 4-5 months and kept it off just doing those above and walking 2 miles a day.

I would mainly recommend boiled vegetable (carrots, cabbage, broccoli ect)
grilled chicken, shrimp ect and alot of fruits and snacks to keep your metabolism up and to give you some energy with your work outs

My lunch and dinner consists of salad with either baked fish or chicken breasts for a good source of protein and to fill me a little more than the salad would. I've been doing this for a while now. Just try to stick to clean protein and try not to stock up on the carbs if you want to eat leaner. Keep the carbs for earlier in the day especially if you work out in the morning for your extra fuel.

I just started doing p90x yesterday and I haven't been eating clean at all. I didn't even do the ab portion of it. I guess I'm going to have to get in to it slowly.

This was me a year ago. I've gained 25-30 lbs since then (It's hard for me to gain weight). I'll post more pics later. My weak points now are my lats and delts. Any advice?

Shrugs, military presses with a barbell, do arm raises to the side with dumb bells. Those are some of the things I do and my delts and lats have grown a good amount in the 3 Ĺ months Iíve been at it. I usually will grab a 25 lb plate and do raises forward with it and i'll do something i saw called the big O where you do raises forward but in a cirlce starting from one side of your waist going in a circle motion to the opposite side of your waist for however many reps and then doing it the other direction as well.

That's pretty much what I do currently. I do Front raises, lateral raises, Military press, and shrugs. The thing is my traps are disproportionate to my delts, sucks.

As far as grabbing the plate, it sounds interesting. Sounds like a full-motion exercise for your shoulders/biceps.

lol @ calling it the big O

I eat about two full meals a day and lots of random snacks. Since I'm trying to define my body, I know I need to cut out the carbs and eat more protein for more energy. I work out 3-4 times a week.

Yeah, the name is ridiculous lol but itís a hell of a work out. I remember when I went from front raises with the plate to this I definitely felt a difference. My delts burnt like crazy afterwards.
