View Full Version : 93 Mazda RX7: My Newest Project!!

Well I am going to create this thread to track the progress of my rebuild of my "New" 1993 Mazda RX7. It does need alot of stuff but for now runs pretty good. Here is a little info from previous owner:

Street Ported engine with 3mm Apex seals
-99 Efini twin turbos
-Scoot Carbon Fiber Hood (hood needs re-clear)
-Vis Racing Carbon Fiber hatch
-Border fenders
-C-West body kit (front bumper needs work)
-Orange cooper type paint
-Stock chrome wheels
-99 turn signals

Plans in order:

- Replace radiator with Aluminum Radiator and new fans.
- Install stock fenders
- Install C-West rear bumper
- have front bumper repaired
- Get car repainted but same color
- Re-clear carbon fiber hood
- Install either some 18" ADR M sport wheels with lip in rear or some mesh type staggered wheels haven't decided.
- downpipe install with heat wrap
- get turbo heatwrap blanket
- rewrap seats in Katskinz leather in Tan
- Locate and install misc interior pieces that I do not have yet.
- Eibach drop springs but not agressive ones.
- Alot of fluid changes and maintenance
- Hks exhaust installed
- HId kit

Well I can't think of anything else that I am gonna do for now but my main goal with this car is to just have clean and reliable. I do know it is hard to say a reliable rotary but with luck and some lovin it will be...

Here are the pics of the car from when I got it till this point(on trailer and lowest pics are when I got). I have only had for about two weeks so far but have doing stuff to it everyday....

I am a mechanic for a living so the work is no issue. The only issue is gonna be money... I have all of the interior pieces and an extra black cloth seat to put in if I want. The whole point of this thread is to show how a shitty lookin car can be changed into a very nice one. Just give me a little time and you will see. I have a broken wrist right now so that is partly why I am not moving faster but I do have the cash just gotta find the parts I want for the right price. Also going to paint within about 3 weeks. I hate the fenders that are on it thats why stock are going on. Plus it is a 93 RX7 and I have not seen but maybe 2 the whole time here in San Antonio. Got rid of my civic to get something unique to build and I am gonna have fun with it....Thanks for the comments though...Sound like my wife..she hates it..

True but exterior will be done in about a month and then will move to interior. The motor is solid at least for now. Want to finish the outside so I can drive it and not worry about people saying it is a piece-o-crap. Have almost all interior pieces just need to install them. And motor I am just going to clean up and keep going.

Thanks! Yeah this has always been one of my dream cars so I am very excited to have found one I could afford. I know that it is tons of work but I am always fixing my cars in slow times at work so this will definitly keep me occupied. Thinking about also gettin another motor for a stand to rebuild and have on backup....Probably will get coilovers instead of wheels for now then and just slam it till I can find or afford some nice ones.

When it is complete I am gonna keep it unless I can find a 93-98 Supra to trade for( not a twin turbo for sure though cause they are too steep..)....

-changed out nasty driver seat for black cloth seat. Need to find black passenger seat Also.
-Installed Door Panels
-Installed Door Handles

Black passenger seat here...

-A/C panel with switches on its way
-Guage Hood and trim on its way
-Tein adjustable coilover setup on it's way.
-apexi exhaust on the way.
-Body shop taking in next week sometime. Decided to paint hatch and hood same color as car and I am thinking about shaving the sideview mirrors and getting something different later.

Can't wait to get back from paint...

Oh yeah the veilside wheels I lost the bid on by like $15. Sucks...so If anyone runs across some cheap let me know....Thanks....

Well the numbers are going down. I think RX7club show around 8,500 for 2008. A good example is autotrader.com Back in the old days I could find like 10 for sale within 50 miles of Houston. Now its more like 3-5 that show up.

07-26-2009, 09:56 AM
I like the c-west kit so I will keep it. Now on a honda I always left them clean and stock looking but i Personally like the kit on the rx7's. Now if i was really balling I would just get the veilside full body kit but that is over 11k just for the parts. So you would spend about 20k to upgrade the body but it looks like a totally different car after. going for a blue closer to the widebody one in the pics above. Like it and want to kind of match my beamer.
