Thats AWESOME, Paul. Is she going to start driving at autocross events at all or is she headed straight for the Katy track? Looks like she needs some extensions on the pedals for now though...

Rescently I met an older guy and his daughters are already into karting. Boggled my mind, totally awesome father for encouraging that type of competitiveness at a young age. He does karts as well, his goes 110 on the straights ...:wow: but ya, if my future wife has kids (mine or not), they're getting a jump start into racing for sure.

You know, its odd. I joined this forum about 2 weeks after she was born... how time flys... She is 6 now!

the little 50cc comer is supposed to top out at about 25MPH, so even though it's a smaller engine, she is going to be going about as fast as a fast driver can go at track 21 through the corners. those 9HP karts there probably COULD see 40MPH, if they had about another 500 RPM, and a longer track, but even on the straights, your lucky to see 30-35...

We need to get her some seat time at katy before she tries autox, but she has been complaining about how slow her electric kart is.

the kid has a need for speed.

ah, turns out, can't do SCCA autox until she is 8 and in a faster kart... so thats cool.

come out the katy track (http://www.racekarts.com) on sunday. Folks usually keep all their karts in their trailers, and there are usually karts for sale there.

I was looking at another kid kart before I bought this one, guy wanted like $1200 for it. (his kid is racing a cadet sized one now).

I would say get a used one, just because you don't KNOW if your kiddo is going to take to this or not, and the less you spend on it up front, the better off you are.

If they end up liking it, by the time they get good enough that you are going to want to spend to support them, they are moving up into a bigger kart ANYWAY.

That's awesome! We just had a kid 7 weeks ago and I can't wait for him to sit up. Before I started organizing drift events I wanted to get into Karting and I swore the kid is getting started as soon as he can sit up.

This Kiddie Kart Class starts at 5years old:

This one starts at 4: (which means they probably started at about 3 years old, woot!)

It's fucking intense and those little things pull hard! I was dehydrated after I was done.
