The carmaker already raised prices $7,000 last September
In an ongoing series of price rises that threaten to take away any pretensions at the GT-R's 'budget' title, Nissan has topped the $80,000 mark for both base and premium models today. The initial pricing of the car was a scant $69,850 for the base model and $71,900 for the premium.
A price hike announced in September of 2008 jacked prices of the 2009 car up to $76,840 and $79,090, rises of about $7,000 each. Today's jump checks in at almost exactly $5,000 each, raising prices to $81,790 and $84,040, respectively.
That makes the 2010 Nissan GT-R about 17% more expensive than the initial 2009 models - a major price rise considering the performance is nearly identical - a nominal rise of 5hp is included in the new sticker price, but it's likely just a stiffened claim on the car's existing output.
New software in the 2010 models supposedly improves the car's use of the transmission, though it does away with certain features found in the original car as well.
Nissan is still calling the GT-R a value proposition, but as it draws within shouting distance of the 638hp (476kW) Corvette ZR-1, one has to start asking if it's really worth it.

As long as people keep buying this car, it will sell for a high price. This is overpriced, though.

Porsche Carrera s is not worth that price... should just save a bit more and get a GT3 or 911 turbo.
id take a gtr pver a carrera s any day... percformance is just that big of a difference.

If I wanted absolute performance I'd buy a ZR1. However, I just love the heritage of Porsche and that the car is nearly a piece of art.

There's a huge debate about a "real Porsche." Hell, I'd love to have a Cayman S.

you can think that all you want.
my heads cam GTO with full suspension on hoosiers getting passed by a stock cayman S with rcomps is saying a whole lot. especially with the massive number of turbos and 4s's and GT3's i was passing all weekend.

if that's the case, i find it amusing how a track enthusiast with a polished turd has so many negative things to say about such a refined performer on the track with a heritage that's actually been blacklisted from racing series for having an unfair mechanical advantage over the rest of the field, a la the r32...

i find it amusing that someone with no experience with things whatsoever masquerades as being higher and mightier than everyone else.
but thats just me.
also i dont find a 3800lb AWD car with more computers onboard than the space shuttle to control the car more than the person driving impressive. sorry just doesnt touch my peepee the way i want it to.
put a manual trans in it and leave the AWD but take out all the gismos and id probably like it alot more. its still ugly as sin, but it would atleast be cool IMO.
btw the previous GTR's ive always loved and adored.

STFU, stupid fan boy. Obviously, it's marked up over its standard value if they've raised the price significantly without making any improvements to the car. Mark ups = OVERPRICED. Let's not mention the real ass reaming of a markup the dealerships add on top of that.

still a bargain for the performance
still a bargain for the performance
Never denied it was. I just think it's wrong to raise the prices continuously, just because of the fact that they sell as much as they do. Like I said, it's not like the dealers aren't already marking the price up.

who might that be? if you're talking about me, i started tracking cars of mine back in 98. not a whole lot as of recent years, and i'm definitely not the one acting like i know more than anyone here. you're doing a fine job at it, though.
and i can definitely see your point on wanting more of a raw driving machine without driving aids galore. i can also respect that , completely. however, that has little to no relevance when considering what the r35 is capable of on the track. love it, or hate it, it's knocking down devastating lap times wherever it goes. then come all the haters that claim that these are fictitious lap times, and the car continues to post those type of times everywhere it goes. some of the most impressive instances i've noticed were from privately owned gtr's lighting up well modded cars during scc(RIP) organized time attacks.
knock the driving aids all you want, but what makes me laugh are the ones that marvel at how a production rwd car can smoke the tires from an 80 mile an hour roll. that's a handicap. there's a million different instances where a tenth of a second can be gained or lost on the track, and when every tenth matters, i fully appreciate a car designed with the mindset of capitalizing on that as much as possible for whatever amount of money is put into its production. there's many ways to build a fast car. whether it's a large pushrod engine, or a trick awd system with an incredible shift time, or a compact recycled aluminum can with a high revving n/a 4 cylinder, i like them all.

respect level raised.
ive come to terms with it posting fast times, doesnt bother me that it does. i wish it was done more to be a driving experience car instead of a "look what i can do" car. clarkson said that too its a fast car but it isnt fun.
if im spending 80 or 160k dollars i want a FUN car. i could give a shit if it makes coffee and can dance to songs and shit like that. it just needs to be fun.
besides. im the anti-fanboy.

the only knocks i've ever read from reviewers was the driving experience in that sense. but before anyone can take that, and run with it, they'd have to drive one for themselves before they could lay any claim to agreeing with that. just agreeing with the philosophy of wanting to go through the motions really doesn't mean that there's no chance that you could personally take the car for a spin and perhaps admit that it's a lot more fun than you thought it would be, therefore making a hypocrite of yourself in the process. that being said, i'm sure it's only a matter of time before i get a crack at one, and realize that there is a fraction of a chance that i could walk away feeling that i wish there was a little more to it...

Thank you, the Porsche's heritage is a reason I'd consider buying one.
I don't mind having an older one either. Personally a 911 or a GT3 would do it for me. Even if it's more expensive than the GTR.
All that they keep doing is raising the price on it without making any significant upgrades
To me thats two thumbs down.
