Apparently the guys at Jalopnik have spent some time w/ the new camaro and its designers. Did some quick research and thats a pretty slow time, its on par with an ISF which isnt the best company.

isf is cool no need to diss it, its impressive for the SS since its cheaper than an isf

thats actually impressive for a 3700-3900lbs RWD muscle car @ $30-35K but then again people dont really test out $30-40K sports cars anymore like they do with supercars

It's not a horrible time. It weighs nearly the same as the IS-F and has the same amount of power. I wouldn't mind it being lighter, but it handles decently and will be very quick with plenty of cheap aftermarket support.

tuning and weight reduction can help out a lot.

That's actually rather impressive. I think sometimes we get a little desensitized to what good performance is, because we hear about great performance so often.

Keep in mind that the early model 350Z and S2000 ran an 8:26 and 8:39, respectively.

Also consider that the current Cobalt SS managed an 8:17 or something, which was enough to hold the fwd record for a few months. Talk about a performance bargain!

not saying the isf is bad but i was expecting more... the zr1 and ctsv can outhandle pretty much any competition proving gm can make cars that can handle. also the new cobalt ss does it in 8:22, so 160hp and bigger tires, brakes, better suspension etc, only gets you 3 seconds...

Anyone know what the Mustang and Challenger ran?

Keep in mind that the Camaro was probably not originally intended to even run the ring... Sure its a sports car/Muscle car but its not a purpose built track machine.

Either way, I love the new camaro inside and out... Cant wait to start seeing them on the road.

lol of course, all they have to do is shove a sick v8 in it and make sure i can do burnout all day long

i think they would both run somewhere in the high 8 min area.

not with an IRS and a really good suspension setup from teh factory.

camaro is a good bargain in all matters of performance.

The GTO may look better in your opinion, but the Camaro is on the next generation platform so it should perform better overall stock for stock, and mod for mod.
