The new V6 is the same 3.5L unit from the TL and RL and is rated at 280hp (209kW)

Acura has used today’s Chicago Auto Show to debut a new V6-powered version of its TSX sports sedan, which is scheduled to go on sale in the middle of the year. The midsize sedan picks up the company’s familiar 3.5L V6 from its TL and RL siblings, which in the TSX is rated at 280hp (209kW).

To handle the extra power, the car has also been updated with stiffer suspension and new control setting for Acura's Sequential SportShift six-speed automatic transmission with F1-style paddle shifters. The V6 TSX also sports unique five-spoke 18in aluminum wheels shod with Michelin Pilot all-season tires.

In addition to larger wheels, the V6 TSX is further distinguished from the four-cylinder variant with the use of a slightly revised front fascia and V6 badging.

Like all Acura models, the new TSX features as standard a power moonroof, automatic climate control, a premium seven-speaker sound system with XM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth hands-free and USB and auxiliary ports. Optional goodies include Acura’s Technology Package, which adds satellite navigation, a reversing camera, and a premium sound system.

Acura also made an announcement at the Chicago event today that it will update almost every sedan and SUV in its lineup for the 2010 model year.

NOOOOOOOO!!!! i've been hoping it was getting the turbo from the rdx w/ awd. that would have been a killer combo. either way I likes.

i dont think it's smart move
they already have 3.5 TL then why make TSX 3.5
should kept it 2.4 for gas economy

They have been wanting to, or so i have heard, but its just not the right time. I believe they have BMW in their sights and started by dropping the RSX but with the economy in the tanks, i don't think they have the development funds to work out a RWD platform.

its still an option, for those who want a v6 but just in the tsx shell, basically they're using up left over stock some how

i'm sure this is just a move for more options. like an altima. you can choose a 4 cylinder or 6. adds options, so it's definitely a good move, b/c i know a few ppl that would consider a tsx if it weren't so slow.

Totally wasn't expecting this, but this upgrade is very much welcomed and needed.

Well done, Acura.

very much needed..i couldnt understand how someone could buy a 200hp car for 28k when the TL started at 32 with much more power

Sometimes, the only people crazier than the designers of some Acura models are the consumers who end up buying them.

I think they should've used the turbo 2.4 from that RDX minivan-thing, that would have been a nice addition to this car. I liked the original because of its euro accord chassis and the nice 2.4 it came with, Not a bloated v6.

you people do realize that FWD is superior as far as gas mileage is concerned and, in the near future, you're going to see less and less RWD cars?

lol@RWD honda. the s2000 is dead folks.

well the 2.4 is still availible, just the v6 is another option

I understand, I was just thinking that the turbo charged engine would be a better choice than the v6 for extra power. I would still buy the 2.4.

Yes, and two facts come to mind:

1. Honda has been increasingly pulling away from the performance market, and leaning more towards efficiency and economy. The demise of the S2K pretty much puts the nail in the coffin. Head over to Acura and get one of the higher-end models if you want decent performance.

2. There will always be a market for performance RWD cars (albeit smaller than the fuel-economy market,) and while some cars are disappearing, other models are being introduced.

I'm wondering if we'll see less AWD cars as well. :dunno:

i dont think you'll see less AWD because the demand is still there.
you still see a decent amount of AWD cars being made and some of them actually get good gas mileage. as said before performance RWD and AWD cars arent going anywhere..

still an option, but this has been common practice with alot of auto makers. Look at nissan...they put the VQ in how many cars? lol. maxima, altima, 350, FX,M35, G35, Morano, etc.

Save money where you can plop the same motor in a sh*t ton of cars.
