They've been talking about a successor to the S2000 for years. I doubt anything is in the works....especially now.
Honestly, it was about time to stop producing the S2000 since there haven't been any major updates.
I wouldn't be surprised if we're all praising Honda 5 years from now for making smart decisions. They are typically ahead of the game in predicting future trends.

i would have thought as long as the s2ks has been out...and minimal changes have been done i would have thought of a Type S version with maybe turbo? or some sort of performance enhancement to compete with others around the same price
the performance was good when the s2k first came out..but now they have to step it up

or step out and wait. which is what it looks like they're doing.
i just hope they don't butcher it later like they did the TL and TSX :weirdo:

The S2000 is nearly ancient now. It's been the same car since its release in 1999.

very true.
There are very few cars that last a full decade without a major redesign.

didnt the nsx last pretty long without a major changeup? besides the headlights and minor aesthetics, the nsx remained pretty much the same.

Yup...heard about a S2000 successor years ago. I remember reading about a factory hard top version with a 2.2 liter, the S2200.

the NSX lasted 15 years
I wouldn't consider a different motor and gearbox that minor of an update though... the S2000 was beefed up a bit and changed around during its time as well

In 2004-2005 it had the redline lowered but power output stayed relatively the same. Other than that it just went through a couple different designs on the front end and a few different wheel/tire combinations.
