no it was like my 4th... I shot canon film slr for 2 years then a d40 then a pentax.. I figure if I want to get aquainted with a cam it might as well be one that I plan on keeping for a super long time.. And in feb I want to drop some serious coin on glass and lighting

nah have to pass. the pawn shop actually offered me 325 with the kit lense and nothing else lol.. I went by out of curiosity in case I need to sale it to get the d300

That's cool, I can get the body alone for $250 but don't have any Nikon lenses and don't really have need for another system.
