I'm guessing this means they will compete in LeMans, eh? Good news.

I care nothing about the GTR and its offshoots.

Nissan = failure.

Aside from the Z, I sorta agree.

I don't mind the Z, its a nice car but dislike its door handles.

^ I tried to explain in the above post but ran out of editing time.

Nissan has a car that could possible be re-tooled to compete in LeMans, and that is their GTR-esque Super GT car. However, that car uses a VK45 V8 and RWD and a completely one-off body design. So, it would be a huge stretch to bring the Super GT car back into a "production spec" class. The only logical way to do it would be to design an all new racer for the LeMans series, and that seems unlikely given the current financial strains of all the automakers.

Plus, Corvette is rumored to be dropping down to the GT2 class since they have raped the shit out of the GT1 class and there is literally no competition for them. If this happens, GT2 (which is where the GTR would end up) will not be a friendly place to be if you're just getting into LeMans.

It's settled then. Send a letter to Nissan immediately to warn them of their oversight.

With that said, I would not put it past Nissan's insane CEO to want to take on all the Porsche club racers in the GT2 class. But if Corvette drops in with a C6.R designed for GT2, I really couldn't see Nissan wanting to deal with that.

So will your head explode if the GTR enters GT2 class and does well?

No. There's no way the GTR would be entered into the GT2 class if it wasn't going to do well; that's just the nature of Nissan's CEO. What would make my head explode is if they actually entered to the car period...

If they really wanted to blow my brains they'd attack the GT1 division and call out Corvette and Aston Martin. That would certainly get me to turn on Speed channel more often.
