The first Revolution was a single-seater race car concept developed by Russia’s Lada, which first went on display back in 2003 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The original concept was powered by a 1.6L petrol engine developing 215hp (160kW) and was capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in about 6.5 seconds.

At this week’s Paris Motor Show Lada took the wraps off the third model in the Revolution series, revealing a closed sports coupe that will be further developed for a new race series planned for next year. The latest model, aptly named the Revolution 3, features a plastic body sitting on a lightweight steel chassis and weighs a total 1,103kg.

Engine options include a Renault-derived 2.0L turbocharged engine with 245hp (182kW) on tap or a new 3.7L V6 sourced from Nissan with 350hp (261kW) on tap.

While the Revolution 3 is purely a design study with no working parts, next year’s Frankfurt Motor Show will see a production version of the car that will be available for sale to private racing enthusiasts by early 2010.
