The new Camaro has been a long time coming, with concepts on the scene for the past two years and more than six years since the last Camaro was produced. The hot SS variant is taking even longer than the standard car, though these photos show what appears to be the final version of the fastest Camaro, expected to be powered by an LS3 V8.

These photos show what looks to be a final-production Camaro SS despite the fact that it hasn’t officially been revealed. The standard Camaro and its RS appearance package have, however, and apart from a few important distinctions, the SS retains the majority of the new car’s familiar styling. The small opening just below the hood, a slightly reworked front fascia and a different set of badges look to be the primary differences externally.

Early rumors had pegged the new Camaro SS as using a slightly detuned version of the LS-series supercharged 6.2L engine found in the Corvette ZR-1 and Cadillac CTS-V, but the official word on the Camaro SS is that it will feature naturally aspirated engines, with a 6.2L LS3 V8 or 6.2L L99 under the bulging hood depending upon which transmission is selected. The LS3 is expected to produce 422hp (314kW) and 408lb-ft (553Nm) of torque in manual-transmission guise and the L99 will crank out 400hp (299kW) and 395lb-ft (535Nm) of torque for the automatic.

I don't think there is such a thing as a "leaked" photograph of a GM product.

I like it but agree that it was a terrible color choice to "show off" the car... Now hugger orange or red would have made the car stand out much better.

I like it. It looks like they really stuck to the 1969 model design. I would have pulled the bowties and replaced them with the "SS" just like the '69 year.

But I do think this color sucks...Hugger Orange FTW.

Not bad overall, they kinda stayed close to the concept. Althought i don't think those wheels will stay, those are the same as the V6 version, usally SS gets better wheels.

Think of all the accessories and aftermarket parts that will come out. it has potential.

I think it will be a mistake for them not to put the supercharged motor in this car to at least match the 500hp made by the GT500.

Notice there is no Z28 model....the Z28 model was above the SS for the 1st gen...

Very good point... but then again wasn't the RS a step above the SS back then too? I always loved the hide-away lights.

True, but currently the SS is the top performer in their current cars.
