Honda is set to unveil a new sports car concept at the upcoming London Motor Show, which the carmaker describes as a lightweight two-seater aimed at promoting its new green performance image. The concept car will be called the OSM, which stands of Open Study Model, and is designed to be a fuel-efficient and low-emissions sports car.
This means it’s unlikely to be a preview of the NSX replacement seen testing at the Nurburgring recently. Instead, the OSM is likely to be the next iteration of the CR-Z concept hybrid sports car concept showcased at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show. Speaking with Automotive News, Honda spokesman Steve Kirk said the OSM is just a design study and is not yet confirmed for production. He also said it was not a successor for the S2000 roadster despite being a convertible.
The latest OSM concept was styled at Honda’s design center in Offenbach, Germany. Apart from this sketch of the car, no other technical details about the model or its likely powertrain have been released.
The similarities between it and the previous CR-Z are evident, especially the similar ‘lightweight sports car’ tagline used to describe both concepts.
