Yet another image has been leaked from Nissan’s GT 2012 meeting held in May, this time it’s a side view of the upcoming FR sports coupe due to go on sale in 2010. The image reveals just enough to give a good idea of what the final shape will be and going by similar images of the next generation Z12 Cube and Z34 Fairlady Z (370Z) which were also revealed at the meeting, Nissan isn’t going to let the new FR coupe loose without its own unique identity. Another interesting feature is the small third “quarter window” and the pronounced rear blister fender.

Mechanical specifications have changed slightly for the better since we last reported on the FR sports coupe, it’s still rumored to have a 2000cc inline 4 cylinder engine using Nissan’s VCR (Variable Compression Ratio) technology only this time it’s almost certain it will be turbocharged. It’s also possible the 2.0L engine will make use of a VVEL system similar to what is used in the VQ37VHR engine found in the V36 Nissan Skyline coupe. Power is still rumored to be 225ps with 35.0kg/m of torque to move the 1200kg coupe around

The FR sports coupe will position itself at the bottom of Nissan’s performance car tree being the cheapest in price but will offer a more sports orientated driving experience compared to the more expensive V36 Skyline Coupe. Once the new entry level FR sports coupe is released it will emphasize Nissan’s performance car range as one which is well defined and offers plenty of choice, which is in complete contrast to earlier on in the decade.

No, SR20VET is NOT VCR, that's VVT (variable timing and lift control) this has Varible COMPRESSION.......we might be getting a new motor maybe?

We were talking about this on H240 and only 225 from a Turbo Four in today's world seems like a huge step BACK seeing how the S15's SR has 250HP and 202 lbs/ft

And you posted the news youself that it'll have VCR, plus the SR is discontinued now that the X-Trail GT is done.

Also the subject of "Random New Motors" look and what happened with the S13 and the SR :)

they can detune motors (just turn down the boost levels)...

the s15 silva was around $30K USD when it first came out and the new silvia is projected to be around $23K..so i wouldnt expect nissan to come out with a 280+hp motor and still be able to keep it $23K brand spanking new :Goofy:

True but I also doubt that an SR will be in there.

Let's look at this shall we...

VCR is new, it is NOT on the streets yet.

SR20VET's are SR20's with a VTEC head (for lack of better terms)

VCR is going to mess with the block, not the head - It won't be an SR.

For what it's worth - I'd for an SR to be in there cause it'll be aftermarket OUT THE BOX but that motor is done.

Nah it'll come over here, but the worst thing I see is it'll get a 2.5L N/A to keep with tradition of screwing us with these cars :)
