Your perfect sleeper?

I love sleepers. I'm a low key kind of guy, and I prefer form over function. Who else is with me?

I was trying to come up with a sleeper for my street racing story, but I think it'd be pretty cool to have as a real car.

It's a 2nd gen CRX, with a B20/VTEC transplant. Some B20/VTECs are making 210whp. With a modest 15% drivetrain loss, you're looking at over 240hp at the crank.
The car is stripped out; the carpet, sound deadening, and the stereo are removed. There's a rear cage in the back, for added rigidity.
Suspension mods are simple, but effective: Koni Yellows with Ground Control coilover sleeves and then a big 22mm anti roll bar from Progress.
To further reduce weight, the hatch would be replaced with a fiberglass one, and the rear glass would be replaced with Lexan. Oh, and a carbon fiber hood, but painted flat black, along with the rest of the car.
Weight is such a consideration, because I'd want to see if I could keep the weight at a ton or less. This would give the car a power-to-weight ratio of 240hp per ton. In other words, each horsepower only needs to move 8.3 pounds! Sweet!

For rwd, I'd have to go for the other car in my story: An S14 with an RB26 swap. I'd leave the body pretty much unaltered, except for the smallest rear wing I could find.

etc etc.. but my 3sgte would have a GT 45 duel ball bearing turbo charger with a direct shot of nitrous spray on the roof of the car (thats where my intercooler will be, i will have to steal a 18 wheeler intercooler and put that on my roof)

no cataylic converters and 650 CC injectors with a supra fuel pump... and nothing but straight piping so that all of the flames would toast my bumper.. and catch other cars on fire from behind me.. bwhaha :roflmao: i would search for vipers to race and other exotics.. because

dropping aroudn 5k in the motor and stealing a 18 wheeler FM intercooler= around 6 thousand

Ultimate sleeper for me would be a 89 626 hatchback. Fully built and mapped motor. Bigger turbo. Stock outside. Huge intercooler in front. Made for the wangan....:zzz:

Donnell, you are close, take it one step further.....can you imagine anything more disgracefull to a mullet head, than getting beat by a wagovan? I always hear stories about a guy witha twin-turbo (white) ITR that rolls around Houston. Capable of 11's, too. Supposed to look pretty stock from what i hear.

when people get that serious about weight, they prob have already dropped a lot of money on the drivetrain along with the powerplant.

Not everyone has an eye, though. People who don't know enough will figure something is wrong with the windows, and forget about it.

What stuff does the CRVTEC break? I just want to know, so I can change details of my story if I need to.

Those cars aren't sleepers since even the domestic guys know about them. I hang around alot of domestic guys and that is a car that they don't take lightly.

my sleeper would be either a lexus sc300 w/ a built supra TT motor. i know it's been done, but no1 expects it :)

another one is a 2001 Caddilac Seville STS, Northstar Motor, w/ a 200 shot. the hard part is jsut getting my mom to let me put the nitrous on...:P

hey. i have an auto 99 corolla. i was thinking of making it into a sleeper. what engines will fit in there? if i am not mistaken, the 3s-gte is an mr2 motor right? how easy is the swap considering the mr2 is a mid engine RWD ?

also, i know toyota have pretty strong blocks. what about getting a custom turbo for it? the stock engine is the 1zz-fe, dohc 1.8 liter non-vvti. do you think it is comparable to an LS motor?

Since the MR2 engine is rwd, you probably can't do it. The 3S-GTE was also available in the Celica All-Trac. That was probably the version that CovertPenguin was talking about.
I'm not sure about engine swaps here in TX, but in most cases you have to have an engine of the same model year or newer as your car. If that's the case, you'll have to get a JDM engine.

I dunno enough about the 1ZZ. Sorry.

True, I tend to stay away from most 1g guys as well. But even still, there are many people that try to race me even thought I'm not sleeper looking anymore and those 1g's can be faster than me with less work put in. And there are still alotta people (imports & domestic) that have no idea.:D
