Me and a couple of my friends were at the gym yesterday. we were just bullshitting around and my friend was telling some story and he was using the word "*****" alot, but not in a bad way, the same way u would say "dawg". anyways, this black dude next to us said he was getting offended cause we were using the word "*****". we were like, "dude, we're not using it to offend u, we didnt call u ****** right to your face". he was like, "still, the word has roots and u should'nt be using it". He was getting all pissy so we said, "fine we're gonna stop using it out of respect for you". Anyways, my feeling is that dude was over reacting, the word "*****" has a total different meaning these days compared to "******". i will keep using that word cause i feel its not disrespectful anymore. anyone got any input on this?

I don't use it often, but occassionally it slips out when I'm talking with my friends. We tend not to say it around black people though because it may offend them, even though we are using it as a slang. Likewise with other races trying to make fun of how us asians talk. They would make their "ching chan wo lo tri" sounds trying to impersonate us while i'm talking to someone. I take that as an insult, so i can understand why black ppl would feel offended. Even though they make them "chinese noises" as a joke, i take it as an insult.

well this is my opinion. i think that a large amount of ppl are revolving around the rap and urban culture. not speaking for my self, because i do not follow this "trend" but it is idiotic. we as human beings are all different, and have all different quallities that make each and everyone of us unique. and to follow a trend is quiet foolish of you if your trying to be independent. not to offend anyone but i tend to only hear a few races or ethenic groups say this word...asian's and african americans. i really dont hear hispanics use is as much as those two. as a matter a fact. more of the hispanics use a spanish word or somewhere close to it to replace that word. asian's tend to use this word. now i dont know why, and again im not trying to offend anyone. it just seems a little funny hearing it. i dunno why. maybe just the person saying it or the voice in which it was spoke, but i allways get a lil kick out of it. and for african americans. i dont see how they can continue to say this word. i think that maybe by using the word in normal context that it makes them feel the word isnt harmfull to them or such, but i simply dont understand it. a harmfull word for african americans is ******. and a harmfull word for hispanics is spic. now... i dont go around to all of my hispanic friends and say "oh hey whats up spic!" they would look at me with a "wtf" look on their faces. i dunno i guess its socially acceptible among african americans. its not something we can change. i just think its a bit puzzling thats all. but the topic at hand is that is it offending for ppl to use "*****" in conversations. well.. i dont think its so much offending but socially unacceptable. and humorous lol. bottom line, i wish ppl didnt use it. So where does this leave the mexicans.....???now that people are getting the white,asians involved in this.....me as a mexican use it alot...well sort of.....i usually know when to say it though meaning not around blacks..i did say it the other day by accident at verizon and there were like 3 black workers...i know they heard but nobody said nothing...they probably just messed up my phone or something:eek:

If you want to use it use it, but if someone feels offended by it, show them some respect and not use it around them.

It's as if someone used the word fuck all the time around your kids. Sure they might not be directing it at you, but you wouldnt want your kids to hear it.

As stated before there is a difference between '******' (which is extremely offensive and disrespectfull) and the word '*****' which has become and colloquialism for an individual whom you are refering to in a friendly or endearing way. I used to be tense about using the word ***** until one night i overheard some Vietnamese friends of mine call each other *****. pretty much after that night, i just came to terms with it and now i use it freely. I feel like people that say *****, use it in the same that you would use the word muhfucka, or dog. Someone said before, that the word ****** and the word ***** are two totally different things and i agree. OK thats enough of that let's talk about somethin else. Cuz i said so, cause im yo daddy.
