Which would be better and more of a show winner? BTW the VVT-i engines came in the 98+ MR2s and produced only 175 hp or so.

Is the BEAMS engine the same as the ones found in the SXE10 ?

Yes same engine right down to the valve cover. The altezza has that engine but it has a different tranny though for RWD. So what would impress the judges in the states... a motor that is not found anywhere near the US shores or a nice turbo swap that is easily done by almost any MR2 owner. I can get a wire harness etc for the conversion process, plus the BEAMS engines are newer. So what would impress judges?

the 3S-GE motors are rare..... and they produced 200 horses(98+)... they are nice motors.. and some versions even made 220 horses... all NA.. a turbo charged 3s-ge now that would be an accomplishment... there is a turbo charged 3s-ge in the rally corolla... makes over 500 horses... very cool... problem with that though is figuring out the VVT-i with the turbo...
a JDM 3sgte would be impressive... and powerful... it would be a quick car with this engine... u could bump up the HP to 250 to the ground with only a boost controler.. Plenty of aftermarket plenty of people who know what they are doing "relitively compared to other hot rod toyota engines".. etc etc..
the 1.8 2ZZ engine from the celica would be hard and expensive...its obviouslly not made to be turbo charged... and more than likely all of your hopes and dreams would diminish in mere seconds when the car runs lean and its pure alum. head explodes..
