I've been looking around at getting a personal loan but was wondering who/what would be the best way of going about getting a good low interest loan? Something around 15k if it matters.

you are going to need to have good and STRONG credit for that amount, if you are still in school, borrowing that type of amount you might as well try for a student loan

A good credit score and income is going to play a good part, also whats the reason for the loan.

They are going to want to know what you're going to use it for. If its for a car, the car will secure the loan..etc.

I have a car loan already, basically just want to consolidate everything so I dont have to send off so many damn payments every month. I have a co-signor that will help. I applied at Wells Fargo and got approved but it was something like 13% interest

personal loans are generally going to be a much higher interest rate... are you going to school?

I got one for $17k last year to pay off a bunch of old debt from a previous life. Got it through a CU and the interest was decent... 10% or so... better than the card rates. Its about halfway paid off now... so close to being debt free... :hsugh:

some collateral would help...but seeing as you have a car loan i dont see you having anything to put down as collateral.

What do i need to do to get a loan through a Credit Union. A buddy of mine said he got his loan for about the same amount with like 5% interest on it. Might have to go through that route

I dont mean to thread hijack, but i was thinking about a personal loan as well. Maybe ~3500 just to pay debt, and here are the terms. Are these about standard?

* Rates as low as 11.25% APR when you apply on usaa.com
* 36- to 60-month terms to suit your lifestyle
* Pay off higher-interest rate credit card or loan debt

Personal loans are virtually impossible to get unless you have perfect credit and no debt. Its easier to get a CC with a zero percent intro rate and try and pay that off before the rate jumps . another helpful hint is calll the credit card company ask them if they have any promotional checks they are offering. A lot of times they have those checks at a fixed rate, usually prime or below. Get the checks, deposit into account and pay off bills.

did you go into the bank and apply? You get up to .75% off by having a relationship with us and auto set up for the loan.

you know if you have a 401-k you can take a personal loan out, and you pay yourself back with interest.
