I've done my own using the turbo tax free edition for a good number of years now. It just takes one good year of educating yourself on how to do it.

However, if you have complicated transactions i.e. long term capital gain, casualty losses, or business income, I suggest you go to a CPA.

If you don't have complicated transactions yet still feel uncertain about doing them yourself, just take your w-2, 1099-interest income (if you have a savings account), mortgage interest and other related documents to HR block and get your taxes done for $60 or so. Eek, run on sentence.

I use H&RBLOCK online. Never had a problem with them. Since I don't need the money ASAP I pay $19.99 Usually takes 2 weeks.

if your single, don't have a house, and really no deducs. its really not gonna get your more $ back if you goto H&R or any tax outfit. just use turbotax and be done w/ it.
